Let’s start with location… In historical Lincoln Mill close to downtown. Next the food portions - huge. Enough for 2 people. The food - the place smells amazing. The salsa - fresh ingredients and chunky with a little kick. The J*** Chicken was smoked and covered in a homemade j*** sauce with all the Jamaican spices including those scotch bonnet peppers. Nice kick! The sides - the coconut rice is light and fluffy with black beans. Another side is the Jamaican steamed cabbage sautéed but still has a little crunch and goes perfect with chicken and rice. If you’re a foodie like me, you have to try the Mexibbean Island Grill. I’m trying the tacos next. I’ll let you know…

I found a little bit of Miami right here in Huntsville!!!! I started talking with a Jamacain accent as soon as I walked in! Right now, they are only open on Saturday, but soon open Mon-Sat 11-8pm. The j*** chicken is perfectly sauced and portioned! It is served with fresh steamed cabbage, coconut rice and peas, and fried sweet plantains!! I also got the Rum Punch, it don’t tell Ma!!

We came for lunch on a Saturday, and had a delicious meal. John was great and talked us through the menu. We got j*** wings, lemon pepper wings, and a j*** chicken plate with cabbage, peas and rice, and plantains. All of it was perfect. The j*** chicken was sweet and spicy, the wings were crispy, and the cabbage had a wonderful, savory flavor. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone in the area. And if you’re out of the area, it’s worth the drive. The picture added is the leftover plate after two adults ate the plate. Portions give you a GREAT bang for your buck.

Everything I've had so far is great. I was skeptical about the j*** chicken but the owner talked me into trying it today. It was amazing. This place is awesome.

I was out looking for a place to eat before my climb at High Point in Lincoln Mill, and so glad I stopped by. The food was flavorful, hot, and uniquely authentic even with the blend of flavors that they offer. I pretty much said give me what you want and he brought out a plate of curry chicken, a side of steamed cabbage, rice and beans, and fries. This was my first time eating Jamaican food, but it reminds me of my first time eating authentic Mexican. That’s not an easy task to replicate, but they managed to do it and do it well. The owner is a great chef with decades of experience, easy to talk to, and I learned that they recycle all the glass from their imported drinks with Phoenix Glass Recycling in town!I hope this place gets the reputation it deserves. Nothing less than five stars from me

I’m very disappointed. This was the WORST and I mean the worst Caribbean spots I have ever been to. I understand being a new restaurant you want a variety of items to choose from…but you should not advertise authentic Caribbean food unless you know what you are doing. We ordered the j*** chicken the rice and peas no taste. The j*** chicken not right. The plantains looked like burnt bacon no sweetness at all. Disappointing will never return for 15.00 a meal I will spend my money where it’s worth it!!……but the tea was good.

I stopped by on a slow night so took my time going over the menu options. I came to try the Caribbean options so decided to order the Jamaican combo with j*** chicken, curry chicken, and brown stew, it comes with plantains, steamed cabbage, and rice with peas. The portion was huge, and everything was so well seasoned, definitely the comfort food I was looking for.The place is very cute, in the plaza next to Lincoln Mill, so a pretty good location, less than 2 miles from downtown. Plenty of parking as well. Also they have daily specials ($2 tacos on Tuesday), drink options, and music on Saturdays, so it looks like a pretty chill hangout spot.

Went for the first time today for lunch with a colleague who's a regular. Had J*** Chicken tacos and they were delicious, just the right balance of flavors and heat. I will definitely be back.

First time we had the chicken trio plate to give them all a try- j*** chicken, brown chicken and curry chicken. They are not stingy with their portions! All was good but the j*** was our favorite so tonight we went back for the the j*** chicken plate. Didn’t disappoint! Again it was Plentiful and tasty with some heat. Took advantage of $2 tacos and tried one each of the special tonight- j*** chicken, Al pastor, and another chicken(can’t remember name). Think our favorite was the Al pastor. From our 2 visits about 1month apart there has been Friendly, quick service, and big portions of tasty food!

Every now and then, my husband or I surprise our mate and plan a "mystery trip" -it could be an overnight trip or simply a restaurant we have never been to...TODAY WAS A HUGE HIT!My husband LOVED everything about the Mexibbean Island Grill...the owner was so kind to explain some of our questions about the menu, and when asked to make suggestions, he was spot on! The two of us finally decided to share a combination plate - and we certainly were not disappointed in ANY WAY...the portions were generous....and each and everything was simply delicious...can't think of a "favorite" because EVERYTHING was tasty. We both happily encourage you to go and enjoy a trip to the islands! Anne Lewis

Service was fast and the food was very tasty (and plentiful). J*** chicken had a nice kick. The rum punch was also really good, especially for the price. The owner seemed nice and was chatting with everyone. Definitely plan to go again to check out their Mexican offerings (and to get more rum punch).

Cute, fun, laid back restaurant with fantastic food. We had the combo plate, steak burrito and kids had burgers. Everything was incredible. Highly recommend the curry chicken, j*** chicken and cabbage. The owner is helpful and friendly and we will definitely be visiting again soon.

Absolutely incredible. The owner is so sweet! Highly recommend it, well worth going to. The fajita chicken quesadilla and j*** chicken burrito are two of my favorites. The one star reviews were weird and kept us away for a minute, but happy to report it’s awesome food. Their queso is awesome, too

The owner was welcoming and helpful. The jerked chicken plate was plentiful and tasty. The cabbage was awesome! The scottish bonnet sauce was a nice compliment to the rice and "peas" (aka beans) if you like sweet and hot, which I do. The rum punch was exceptional! Defintely would go back again.

Friendly, reasonably priced and nice atmosphere. My kids loved their veggie burrito and veggie quesadilla. Tacos and queso we're delicious. Definitely recommend the sample platter, and next time I'll try another authentic Caribbean dish. Will be back!!
