The shrimp po boy is absolutely fantastic. The gumbo is off the charts.

Don't usually post reviews but felt like I had to on this spot... I got the shrimp po boy, fries, and potato salad. The po boy was delicious shrimp is well seasoned and good amount of food for the price ($20). I might ask for more shrimp next time. Fries were very good. The potato salad is good too. Baked potato salad as they call it with bacon good taste. Customer service was exceptional. Dont let this hole in the wall spot fool you and give it a try if your near UAH.

The food was good and had lots of flavor. I do feel they keep the hot well at too high of a temperature.

Do not let the gas station deter you. On a friend’s recommendation I gave the lunchbox a try. I was not disappointed. The shrimp PoBoy was delicious and the red beans and rice were amazing. Can not wait for next crawfish season to give that a try.

Good lunch spot, I got the brisket plate with Mac n cheese and red beans and rice, and ordered a side of gumbo to try.

Gumbo had less kick than I was expecting and the brisket was dry, but brisket had a great flavor. Real stand outs were the red beans and rice and the white barbecue sauce. Easily in top 5 white sauces I’ve tried, and a serious contender for the best.

Visit on 8/2/25 for lunch. 94 food score. Had the wings (smoked and then flash-fried), fries, red beans and rice, fried shrimp poboy, and the bread pudding. Everying came out promptly and hot. Seasoning was spot on with just a bit of simmering heat in the red beans. We were very happy with our lunch! Will make this a regular lunch spot as we go through Huntsville.

I've only lived in north Alabama for 2 and 1/2 months. I'm from deep south Louisiana a little town called Chalmette. And I was wanting a roast beef sandwich like from home a little restaurant called Rocky and Carlos's this place did not disappoint. Their roast beef sandwich was a little taste of home. Thank you lunch box keep up the good work.

The Food, the Family, the Service of this place. The Lowreys have been bringing the best of New Orleans to us right here in Huntsville for sometime now and I have never eaten a bad thing here, but I will say I'm partial to the Friend Shrimp Poboy. Recently the family's son Roland has started there bringing even more light and goodness into the restaurant. Must check it out!!
