Food Review Vegan BBQ Pop-up Restaurant and NOT the Salty Nut Brewery. Thank you for hosting!I had the pleasure of trying out a variety of dishes at a Pop-up restaurant Vegan BBQ hosted on-site at the Salty Nut Brewery. There were a few disappointments that I would like to address. Here's a breakdown of my experience:1) Greens: The greens on the plate had an overpowering vinegar flavor, which unfortunately made them taste quite bitter. It seemed that the greens had been soaked in vinegar for too long or vinegar added after cooked, resulting in an imbalance in flavors. Vinegar, when used in moderation, can add a tangy and refreshing taste to greens. However, excessive vinegar can overpower the natural flavors of the greens, leading to bitterness. It's important to strike the right balance to ensure the vinegar complements the dish rather than overwhelms it.2) Sweet Potatoes: The sweet potatoes were seasoned with an excessive amount of cinnamon, which unfortunately made them less desirable. While cinnamon can add warmth and a subtle sweetness to dishes, too much of it can overpower the natural flavors of the sweet potatoes. In this case, the cinnamon overwhelmed the inherent sweetness of the potatoes, making them taste overly spiced. It's crucial to use cinnamon sparingly to enhance, rather than overpower, the taste of sweet potatoes.3) Mac and Cheese: The mac and cheese dish had an overwhelming garlic flavor, which made it less enjoyable. Garlic can undoubtedly add a savory kick to mac and cheese, but too much of it can mask the creamy and cheesy essence that makes this dish so beloved. The excessive garlic overpowered the other flavors, resulting in a dish that lacked the desired balance. It's important to use garlic judiciously to maintain the harmony of flavors in mac and cheese.4) Smoked Vegan Steak: The smoked vegan steak had a distinct off-flavor that suggested it had been cooked with lighter fluid. This not only affected the taste but also raised concerns about the health implications. Cooking with lighter fluid can impart a chemical taste to the food, compromising its overall flavor profile. Moreover, lighter fluid contains various chemicals, such as hydrocarbons and additives, which are not intended for consumption. When ingested, these substances can be harmful to the body. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid cooking with lighter fluid and opt for healthier cooking methods, such as using natural hardwood or charcoal, to ensure both taste and well-being.In conclusion, while the restaurant showcased some delicious offerings, there were a few missteps regarding the use of certain ingredients. Proper balance and moderation are essential when incorporating vinegar, cinnamon, garlic, and cooking methods like lighter fluid. By keeping these factors in mind, the overall dining experience can be greatly enhanced, and the true flavors of the dishes can shine through.

My favorite bar in the arealive music that's not too loud to block all conversations. Good drinks and as always the fantastic annaheim chilli.

I like this place a lot but I’ll never go back after my experience the other day with “Meredith”. She was extremely rude. She pretty much ignored everyone else except for 2 people at the end of the bar and when she did actually decide to help us it seemed like a HUGE inconvenience. I’m not sure what her problem is, but I think she could use a lesson in manners. I’m giving 3 stars because I don’t think the bar should suffer from one bad employee.

Salty Nut Brewery is one of my favorite in Huntsville. The selection is small but has all categories covered. I’m particularly fond of their Hefeweizen, Brown Ale and their Blond Ale. It’s a Hefeweizen you’d find in Munich. Service is always good, has games and a Biergarten. I wish their Hefeweizen was more widely available it’s one of my favorites. It’s also in a great location for a beer crawl that covers 4 great breweries!
