Very disappointed with my first experience here! It was my wife’s birthday and not only was there no birthday treatment (although someone a few tables over got a song and all) they didn’t have the entree she wanted. She settled for something else which actually cost way more! Definitely NOT satisfied! Way too much money spent for such poor service!

Our first visit to Tom Brown's was a wonderful experience. We were a bit concerned based on other reviews however our total experience was amazing. The food was absolutely delicious and Tammie our server was just delightful and very attentive. The true highlight was the brown butter cake with 3 berry sauce and ice cream for dessert. We will remember that for a LONG time--it was that good!

In deciding whether to choose this restaurant to celebrate my mother‘s 90th birthday, my husband and I personally went into the restaurant a couple of nights beforehand to check out the seating possibilities as my mother has hearing and mobility issues. It took a while for someone to come to the front desk to help us, but a young lady eventually arrived and I told her what we would be celebrating. She showed us a couple of tables that would work nicely for our party of five and would be easy for my mother to get to.
My husband and I arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation on s Saturday night. Again, there was no one at the front desk so my husband had to go ask for assistance. The two employees that came up to the front desk seemed young and inexperienced. The young lady told me that they would have to “go set up our table”. This made no sense to me as we had a reservation at 6 o’clock for only five people. The young lady left and we stood waiting for her to return and show us to our table. Finally, after about five minutes had passed and no one had returned to seat us, I walked into the main area to find the young lady. I asked her if they had set our table up and I showed her the table that we thought we would be seating at for dinner. She told us that we could not have that table, but that we could sit “anywhere in the restaurant that we wanted.” Obviously, her statement that they were going to set up our table was not correct. And since most of the tables are four tops I asked if she intended to pull two of those together in the middle of the restaurant floor. She just continued to repeat that I could “sit wherever I wanted”. I was a bit put out with this attitude, but we were told that a manager would come help us. A man came out of the kitchen and obviously was not the floor manager. And he was no help whatsoever. He repeated that we could “sit anywhere in the restaurant that we wanted”. Seeing that the restaurant staff was not going to do anything to fix the situation, we finally found a table that would seat the five of us. About that time my mother arrived and we got her seated. Right after that, another member of the staff came up to me and said that they had made some adjustments and then we could actually have the table I had initially asked for. By then it was too late. My mother was already in place, as was everyone else at the table.
The only saving grace of the night was our server, Kayla. She was wonderful. And she was actually the only person that mentioned my mother’s birthday. We have had celebrations at numerous restaurants for years. And typically, on such an occasion, either a drink is offered to the birthday person, or perhaps a complementary dessert. And members of the staff usually stop by to wish a happy birthday. None of this happened at Tom Brown’s Restaurant. Of course, my family made sure that my mother enjoyed her special evening.
They were a few issues with the food, as in some of it being overcooked or not served when requested. But those were issues I could overlook. It’s hard to overlook spending over $500 at a restaurant where the majority of the staff is inexperienced and not helpful. And where no one made any kind of effort to wish my mother a happy birthday or have something special done for her.
Prior to writing this review, I did contact the restaurant and eventually spoke to one of the co-owners. Lots of excuses were made And somewhat of an apology was given. But the damage was done.
We were invited to come back and give the restaurant second chance, but there was no incentive to do that. There was no offer of “please have drinks on us to help make up for the bad experience”. Or even “please have a dessert on us”. Why would I want to go back and chance having a dinner just as poorly managed at such an expensive restaurant. I do not plan to ever visit this restaurant again.

We (6family members) ate there tonight. We were there for 2 hours! Service was slow. We went early at 5:30 hoping to avoid a long dining experience. The worst thing though, was that they never removed our dinner dishes! We were served our dessert choices with the dirty dinner dishes still on the table! They were still on the table when we paid the bill and left. This is unacceptable.

Service was great but their menu doesn’t match their website. Many items not available. Rolls were hard… Ahi Tuna served warm… no fresh ginger… bacon raw on bison filet. But filets were cooked right and tender.
What a wonderful birthday dinner for J. Tom Browns was fabulous! We had the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. They were great but the sauces could be better. The roumelade sauce that goes with the crab cakes was the better of the two. Next time we’re definitely trying the crab cakes.
The rolls were ok.
I had the tenderloin tops with mashed sweet potatoes. Yummy! Such a great flavor for the steak.
J had the bison filet and baked potato. It was tender and tasty!
We had the house made dessert- which was a cake with fruit compote. Fabulous! This place was pricey but it was worth it! We will be back.

I was excited to take my son and family friends to Tom Browns to celebrate his 14th Birthday. But after our experience (the first) at this high-priced restaurant will certainly be our last, and I would advise anyone interested in Tom Browns to go anywhere else. Of the 5 meals we ordered, 4 were sent back for various reasons – Mash potatoes where Brown (from being under the heat lamp for an extended period) and they were also over cooked and gluggy – Red wine demi-glace was as thick and lumpy like jam (after being replaced twice) – 2 of the steaks were well over cooked and tough – The wedge salad served with romaine lettuce? – and the “signature” cocktail was also sent back twice. From a restaurant portraying itself as “Premium”, this experience demonstrates its amateurish approach to cooking and understanding of basic food and recipe fundamentals.
The silver lining was the experience from our server, who gave excellent service, but was noticeably embarrassed by the quality of food he was serving. If the service was any less, I would have refused to pay for the meal.
With a collective price tag of over $400, I could have asked my 14-year-old son to cook a better meal at home for $50.
I am perplexed at how this restaurant has survived and who would pay the extravagant prices for Waffle House quality food.

Got the lobster bisque to start and there are many other places in town with better. Entree was the Halibut for $55 and it may have been 4 or 5 ounces at best. It was over cooked and only tasted like some pepper was on it. It was one of the worst fish dishes I have had. I wish i would have taken a picture. Service was extremely slow. Multiple times people art the table were out of what they had. The only saving grace was the desserts. They were good but how much this place cost there are other restaurants in town with better food for the price.

We had a wedding party of approximately 30 people at 7pm. We didn’t get food until 8:45. Closed at 9. Didn’t begin to get checks until after 10pm. My salad came waaaaaaay after my entree. They didn’t put “ALL HANDS ON DECK!” The poor waitresses needed help. The system SUCKS! I’ve been here a few times. I will never come back! I remember class act restaurants like the Fogcutter! Yes, my standards are high. I’m glad other restaurants are opening here. This place absolutely SUCKS!

The steaks were great but the side dishes were severely lacking. The asparagus were stringy and overcooked. We asked for a replacement for the poorly cooked asparagus and they gave us Brussel Sprouts that were severely over cooked. For the prices they charge it was very disheartening. At the end of the meal we ordered creme’ brûlée which was very good. The service was decent and the servers were pleasant.

For as expensive as this restaurant is, the food, drinks, and atmosphere do not equate to the cost. So many better restaurants in town. Just doesn’t fit in South Huntsville
