I just had Smoke House Grill Al yesterday it was delicious! I got chicken and dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, fried okra and field peas. Everything was homemade and nothing was canned. I haven’t had fresh field peas in forever and I’ll be dreaming about them until I go back. The mashed potatoes were loaded mashed potatoes. It was $16.99 for a meat and 3 but they gave me big enough portions that I ate on it twice. Go check them out!

The staff were extremely friendly. I had pot roast, collards, field peas, and fried okra. Wife had chicken and dressing, fried okra, Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious!! They don’t overly salt their food like most places do. Great job!!

I ordered catfish plate with Mac and cheese, okra and sweet potato casserole and cornbread! The service was excellent! They were kind, food hot and done quick! Seasoning on point! Can’t wait to go Sunday for greens and bread pudding :)) so happy there’s something like this close to me bc we don’t have options around here and I see a lot of cost complaints but some people spend the same on Chic Fil A and that’s okay but I’d rather stick to the comfort, flavor and taste quality I got today

This was the first time I had ordered from here. I had heard it was a bit pricey for a plate. Today I was willing to give it a try. I called in my order and the lady that answered the phone was very nice. I placed my order for 2 to go plates one was chicken and dressing with mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese with a roll. The other plate was a fried pork chop with collards and a double side of sweet potato casserole with a roll. Then i got a side of bread pudding. After I placed my order the lady on the phone called back to ask me if I wanted cranberry sauce or gravy on my dressing. I appreciated the fact that they called me back and ask if I wanted it as opposed to just putting it on the dressing. Then a few minutes later the lady called me back again and told me that the only pork chop they had left was a small pork chop and sk if I would like a pwice of fish or may e some dressing to go along with the pork chop since it was a smll one. Now I thought that this was awesome. That told me that they cared more about me as a customer than just selling a plate of food. It's hard to find a place now that cares about customers satisfaction like that. I picked up my food and it was a bit expensive but for the service I received and for the quality of food I got it was worth every penny of it. I was not disappointed. The collard greens was the best collard greens I have ever gotten from any resturant ever. Everything I got on the plates was excellent. I can not say one bad thing period about how the food tasted. Then I tasted the bread pudding! Omg I thought I had died nd gone to heaven. That bread pudding to die for. If you go there for food don't forget to her one of that. Even if you don't like bread pudding give their pudding a try. You won't regret it. If you go here you may spend a little extra money but it is worth it to walk away full and satisfied.

The food and atmosphere were 10/10. The food was the best I’ve had in a long time. They have a home like atmosphere. We will definitely be back and bring our friends!
We went for Sunday lunch after church today and everything we ordered was seasoned to perfection and reminded us both of granny’s home cooking. We will be back!
Great food and service. The cabbage and sweet potato casserole is absolutely delicious!!

The name fooled us as we were expecting barbecued food. It was more like Southern comfort food. We had lunch. The menu was limited but what we had was very good. Husband had chopped steak and gravey with mac and cheese and corn. I have to be gluten free so I had a selection of vegetable sides and northern beans. All tasted canned but were nice and hot. The standouts were the coleslaw and the sweet potato casserole. The disappointment was the mashed potatoes which were instant. They also offered fried catfish on the day we were there too which looked good. I understand the menu changes daily. Service was good and the prices were decent. The atmosphere is comfy and family friendly. They do have an area for a bar with a sign that says it's opening soon. There's plenty of space and I hope they succeed in filing it up!
Vegetarian options: The vegetables are all cooked except for the coleslaw. The greenbeans and corn definitely tasted canned and had no special seasoning as was the northern beans. The sweet potato casserole was very good.
Dietary restrictions: Most items have gluten in them, but they do offer a vegetable plate with plenty of sides to choose from.

This is going to be one of Helena's hidden gems; soul food at it's finest, seasoned well and generous portions for a reasonable price. If you haven't went there you need to check it out.

One of the best places in Alabaster! I love this food & I would recommend to anyone!
Phenomenal, it reminds me of my mom’s cooking. I look forward to eating there again. It’s definitely food that’s speaks to your soul and have you reminiscing of a time when food was a love language and something that brought the family together. Food Coma here I come!!!!
