This place is AMAZING! We were greeted when we came in the door. Everyone in the place was super friendly. I had white meat fried chicken, mac & cheese, black-eyed peas and cornbread. If I was going to complain about anything, I prefer my black-eyed peas with more juice so I can dunk my cornbread. But that is not really a complaint. The seasoning for the black-eyed peas were perfect. The fried chicken was not greasy and had great seasoning. I like my mac & cheese creamy and this was. My wife asked the big guy behind the counter if the catfish was good, he reassured her by offering a money back guarantee. She had fried catfish, black-eyed pea and green beans. She said her catfish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. She really enjoyed it and her veggies. Came for Sunday lunch and it was excellent. The owner greeted us immediately and took our order. Made several suggestions and all were very good. We had the fried pork chops, peas, and the Mac and cheese is wonderful. We also had the fried catfish , fried okra and she suggested with lemon pepper and it was delicious. Green beans with potatoes. Definitely left very full and will definitely be back!

I got the country fried steak thinking it was going to be homemade. It was not. It was the fast fixing brand that you can buy out of Walmart. It was decent, just not what I was expecting from a “home style cooking” restaurant. Collard greens were good, mac and cheese was okay, mashed potatoes were okay.

Had lunch here yesterday and the food and service were excellent! We were welcomed warmly when we came in and checked on several times during our meal. Loved the fried chicken and green tomatoes. Definitely recommend and will be back soon!

The food here is Great and the service is with a smile. We first tasted Hometown at Taste of Elmore and the food was calling us to visit the establishment. We were not disappointed as the catfish was fantastic along with the sides. The Mac n Cheese is exceptional. We brought back friends and had their Friday Meatloaf Special ?. Yummy. My mom asked if they could make an item not fried and how wonderful they were to do that for her. Everything is well seasoned and just very tasty. We will be back.Dietary restrictions: My mom has Crohn’s and eating fried food can upset her stomach. They accommodated her with a non fried food option. Thank you so much.

The BEST soul food I’ve had since I was a child sitting at granny’s table! The fried chicken was INCREDIBLE! Lemme tell ya about the cabbage: SAUSAGE in the cabbage and it was straight fire! Fried okra was smackin and crispy and the fried green tomatoes were thin, crispy and had an amazing twang to them. Rice and gravy…gravy was smooth and rich. It was over all one of the best tasting experiences I’ve had. The people were so friendly and so nice to me and my family. I can’t say enough good things about my experience at the hometown kitchen! I will be back…probably in a few days!
