Working here was horrific. Apart from questionable food quality, the co-owner, Ben, displayed blatant favoritism towards certain employees, particularly one I’ll call “#1”.
From the start I was excluded from all kitchen discussions. Despite voicing concerns about using my personal van for interstate deliveries, Ben pressured me, promising to “work something out” if I remained uncomfortable — a promise not kept. By my 4th day, Ben implied he was keeping me around solely for access to my van. I reluctantly agreed to help #1 with rides to work to be a ‘team player’, although it was ½ an hour out of my way, after Ben implied this was also expected of me.
#1 continually belittled & berated me about trivial things for minutes at a time in front of shocked customers, complaining behind my back to Ben, who would corner & criticize me without allowing me to speak. #1 told Ben I was not washing enough of the dishes at our remote location when I was washing about ½ . Ben, about 6’6 or 7, cornered me against my van & told me I “needed to help #1 more!” By the end I was washing 90% of the dishes at the remote location.
#1 gave me expired food to bring home, knowing I have 4 kids, & I was allowed a take-home box. I also made a small box with some ½ portion sides for my 1yr old. I was very open about this. #1 secretly took a photo of the food in my vehicle & showed it to Ben the day I stopped giving her a ride to work, implying I was stealing. Not only was I framed & falsely accused, but Ben was very ugly about it if I HAD had hungry children at home.
I came to Ben with my concerns about #1 continually talking about me behind my back, painting me as someone I’m not, belittling me in front of customers, & frequently giving me the silent treatment. I also confided I’d had several large cancerous polyps recently removed & the stress of this treatment was not good for my health. He asked me to come in the next day to have a meeting. I drove over ½ an hour to work. He had parked where I usually did & would not let me clock in.
He refused to listen, defending #1 unequivocally. He berated me, claiming I couldn’t handle criticism, calling me petty, & outright saying I was a liar. He continually spoke over me while saying I was interrupting him, & then said I was not allowed to speak “until he was done”. He boasted he could make a grown man cry. After several minutes of attacking my character & me personally, he said “& maybe if you have medical conditions you should get it looked at” (please note, I did not remove my own cancer). Then finally said, “okay, you may speak now, but you have 2min & you’d better not bring up any petty crap.” He then immediately interrupted me & ended by confrontationally asking if I was going to stay, but I would be staying in an environment “ruled by him & #1” or if I was going to do us a favor & leave. I told him I wasn’t going to stay where he’d already decided my character without ever speaking to or getting to know me, or where my character was attacked unjustly.
Throughout this ordeal, Ben’s bias stood out, contrasting with my prior positive work references. I even washed dishes for him at the Hillcrest location when his dishwasher quit in an effort to prove my worth. Despite my efforts to address issues privately, directly, & maturely, Ben & #1 remained condescending & portrayed me as unreliable & dishonest, tarnishing my reputation within the team. He made a point to say “everyone” had read the concerns I’d sent to him. He’d printed it out, highlighting the “lies”.
This job was marred by favoritism, disrespectful treatment, & unprofessional conduct. I had to involve the labor board because I still have not received any of my last 2 paychecks. They paid me nothing this past payday, knowing my & my daughter’s birthdays are this week.
I’m sure they’ll respond & try

1031 Meals is a true culinary gem! Their pizza was a slice of cheesy perfection, with a thin, crispy crust and a delightful medley of toppings. And the cheesecake was a decadent, creamy delight that ended the meal on a sweet note. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff made it a perfect spot for a memorable dining experience. Whether you're in the mood for a classic pizza or a heavenly dessert, 1031 Meals is the place to indulge in both. I'll definitely be returning for more of their delicious creations!

I didn't leave a review to begin with and the other day I was looking at other meal plans and it made me remember that I never heard anything so I went on your website to see if you offered anything new and it was EXACTLY the same as before.Apparently I was under the wrong impression since you guys sell meals catered to certain diets and are billed as diets for one's health. And I obviously wasn't looking for medical advice just maybe some Direction, since you are a dietitian and sell food but I digress.The review was not to slam your company, it was to let others know my experience. And my experience is as valid as someone who gives you a five-star reviewOriginal reviewPretty much the same meals that they have had for years since they opened. Hardly any variety. Some of the meals taste pretty decent some not so much. Sent an email to one of the owners maybe a year or so ago asking about certain diets that were good for somebody who is almost type 2 diabetes. Never heard a word... there were several times when they gave me the wrong meals.

This Cafe is located inside the Connie Hudson Senior Center building. For this cafe style, you walk the line, choosing which food you want, which is passed to you to put on your food tray. They also have great desserts. I loved the chicken salad on a bunch. I recommend this.
