I passed the billboard for years and finally had a chance to try it. I ordered to go.
Food: Franchise quality food at specialty store price. I had the sampler, all meat was dry, and unseasoned with a sweet bbq sauce. I also have the feeling I'm missing an item or 2 from the menu description. My wife had the shrimp platter, to her was strong of onion but to me unseasoned. The biscuits were too salty for me to eat. I enjoyed the sweet potato and mashed potatoes. The onion rings were too salty for my preference, but i enjoyed them.
Service: once I was noticed, service was great.
Atmosphere: enjoyed the rustic decor. Paired with the music, it feels like stepping back in time in a texas diner.
Overall: i satisfied my curiosity, but the food i had tonight wasn't worth $50.

The service was quick and the lady was very helpful telling us about the specials, the food was ok the BBQ beans was the best part, the sauce for the brisket was good but the meat didn’t absorb it well.

My mom didn't like her meat being overcooked, and she said the baked beans were almost cold. I enjoyed my plate!! You've got to keep my mom as a satisfied customer because she's the one who lives there. I love y'all!! That's why every time I choose "Dick Russell's" when I come for mom's and my lunch.

This gem here is an amazing spot to eat at The food is hot, fresh and has amazing flavors!! It was hard to decide so we had to try a few things!!! Man oh man!!!!! Delightful staff amazing people. We evacuated Tampa Florida due to a storm and there was someone who heard and paid for our meals! They would not tell us who but we are just beside ourselves. We did not realize it till we had ordered food to go for our kids at the hotel and we want whoever to know from the bottom of our hearts thank you so much. We absolutely appreciate the kindness and knowledge it helps with getting our family back home to help with clean up efforts. Thank you so much!!! My kids said burgers were amazing!!! My spouse ordered a pork sandwich and bacon egg and cheese biscuit and man oh man he loved it! I got steak and eggs!!! And amazing flavors and just so yummy!!! Thank you again guys amazing place! We will definitely be back!!!!

The food was abysmal. Ordered onion rings and they came out practically raw inside, sent them back and they were way overdone outside, but still mostly raw inside. Obviously cooks had grease way too high. Ordered oyster platter, and oysters were the tiniest I've ever seen, anywhere. Mostly tasteless, and plain they were pre frozen. The service was excellent! Donna saw the issues, handled them and kept this from being a terrible experience. Kudos!!! Dick Russell's needs better cooks!!! Update: again gave this childhood favorite restaurant another chance. Yet again, the food sucked, service was great.

Server Marilyn was excellent but food was very small portions. I ordered the 'big ribs' but it was only 9 small baby backs. I would've paid extra to get a full rack. 3 ways to make the restaurant better would be allowing a la carte meat options on the menu + putting sauce on the side instead of on the meat + offering larger portion options. Service was great, atmosphere quaint, but I'm still hungry after leaving.
