We were out Christmas shopping and the ladies that worked in the Burlington coat factory referred us to this place….and OMG it was everything they said it would be….absolutely delicious….felt like I was in my grandmothers kitchen! I got collard greens cornbread yams field peas over rice and a fried pork chop…with the most delicious lemonade….My husband got fried chicken, Mac And cheese and broccoli casserole…with a lemonade….I also ordered a slice of the lemon pineapple cake….it was also delicious!! It was a controlled environment…line moved swiftly…they fixed the plates for u…and everything was absolutely wonderful! Our waitress was superb as well….I’m giving this place a 9.7…..I will be returning for sure….
All the stars. Amazing food and service. We tried one of everything and I can’t choose a favorite. Every bite was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. It was so good we bought more to take home.
Overheard the male staff degrading another female worker. Won’t be spending my Money in an establishment that “values” that type of employee.
Don’t waste your money, keep driving
The food was alright since i don't normally eat soul food away from home. But the prices are up there for sure. Paid $35 for one plate. A little mad cause i didn't receive my yams. Service was bomb... I've never been in there before and the girl at the register pointed me in the right direction. Definitely would go mid day instead of evening though.

We stopped at Mary’s Southern Cooking while staying overnight in Mobile, Alabama on our road trip from Texas to Orlando — and wow, the food was amazing! I had the BBQ chicken breast, and it was so moist and flavorful. The mac & cheese had the perfect cheesy crust on top, and the candied yams were so good I wish I had ordered two portions.
The service was just as great — the gentleman behind the counter who served our plates was so kind and delightful. You can really feel the hospitality here. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, I 100% recommend stopping by. We’ll definitely be making this a regular stop anytime we travel through Alabama

Thought the reviews meant it was good, but after eating the food realize why its called “Mary” southern cooking. Mac and cheese was bland and had no flavor, the yams are probably the worst yams I’ve had in recent memory, the greens had a weird after taste. The BBQ chicken and cornbread were just ok. Also for the price point of 21 dollars you don’t get alot of food and I know plenty of other soul food restaurants that give you a bigger portions for less. Wont be back.

Absolutely disgusting — after tearing into my food, I found a bug cooked right in it. That’s beyond unacceptable and shows this place clearly doesn’t care about cleanliness or basic food safety. If they can’t even keep bugs out of the kitchen, who knows what else is crawling around back there. Totally ruined my meal and I wouldn’t trust this restaurant again.
For down home cooking, Mary's can't be beat. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I had smothered porkchop with mash potatoes, cabbage and yams. You must give them a try.

This Southern restaurant is a true delight. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality that make you feel right at home. The staff is attentive, kind, and clearly take pride in creating a welcoming atmosphere.
The food is nothing short of outstanding—classic home-style Southern cooking made with care and rich with flavor. Each dish feels both comforting and memorable, the kind of meal that stays with you long after you’ve left. It’s a place that celebrates community and tradition, serving up hearty plates with plenty of charm. Highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic Southern comfort done right.

This place is horrible. The macaroni and cheese was unrecognizable in the pan so I passed. The overpriced oxtails had no seasonings whatsoever. The greens were awful and the cornbread tasted like cardboard. If people think this is how soul food is supposed to taste then they’ve never eaten great soul food. They have new registers but they’re still writing what you order on the to go container. The food setup is disorganized and whack. I’ll never go back. Don’t waste your time or money.

The name says it all Mary’s Southern Cooking! We had the opportunity to dine in at the new location of Mary’s Southern Cooking located at 3966 Airport Blvd. We ordered the oxtails special with our choice of three sides. This food was simply-amazing, the owner Mrs. Mary and her servers greeted and treated-us with the most welcoming southern hospitality. We learned about how her restaurant got started and how much detail and precision goes into each bite of their food. The food is so good that we will be coming back again & again, and we will be referring Mary’s Southern Cooking to everyone!
