I had heard about this place but had never eaten there until today. The counter service was promt and friendly, my brisket sandwich came to the table promptly but that's where the good ends. Anyone who thinks that brisket is amazing or juicy has never actually had good brisket, it was dry, grainy and had a lot of hard tough pieces in it. I had to drown it in the sauce just to be able to eat it. The sauce was supposed to be spicy...it isn't. Giving a review is something I never do and if someone would have ask me how was everything I would have told them instead of writing a review and that would have been the end of it. Can't speak for the rest of the menu but the brisket is not that good especially $14 for a sandwich and water.

Really good food. If you don’t know about it, it’s a secret spot that the locals know about. I can’t imagine if they spruce the place up and made it look a little nicer.

Was told this place was good. Not true spent 53.00$ on 3 ribs, small portion of brisket , pulledpork sandwich, beans , potato salad and Mac and cheese. Brisket was OK pulled pork was dry and ribs were avg. It was the sides that that were terrible the beans were very spicy the mac and cheese looked and tasted exactly like box velveeta I couldn't tell if potato salad was spoiled or just tasted bad.

A friend of mine pleaded me to try this place. Apparently he watched it on diners and dives? It's an hour and twenty minute drive one-way. So I checked the website and found the hours and made the drive to Meat Boss. As you can see, they are closed until the new year! I checked the website again and didn't find any notification that they would be closed for the holidays. So.. seven gallon of gas, 140+ miles for nothing. Maybe I'll try this place someday. Until then, this review remains incomplete.

This is hands down the best BBQ in Mobile. We’ve never had a bad meal here—everything is consistently delicious. It’s a proud local business, and you can really feel that hometown care in both the food and the service. The front counter staff are always friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. If you’re looking for great barbecue and want to support a local company, this spot is absolutely worth a visit.

I bought a turkey for Thanksgiving for pickup the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. This was my first time doing this. I had had good experience with their made that day meals. My son carried the turkey out so I did not notice while there that it was frozen solid. I had to call my aunt who was ill to tell her I could not bring the Turkey 2 daya before Thanksgiving. The turkey took 7 days to thaw. Bear in mind, I told them it was for Thanksgiving. It made all my family question when the turkey was actually smoked. I mean really?!

I'm from the west coast and was in town visiting family. Meat Boss came up as the best BBQ spot in town. I can truly say the ribs were the best I've ever had, the pulled pork was also very good. The Service was a little cold but the food made up for it.

Incredible pulled pork sandwich loaded with all the toppings. I got baked beans and coleslaw for my sides. Everything was fantastic and if I ever find myself in Mobile again, I'll definitely be stopping in to try the brisket!

We had Boss burger; ribs, chicken, and sausage. Preferred burger over the ribs & chicken. Did not like the baked beans; will not order the banana pudding again.

Update 11/2026: tried the DDD burger; we were not impressed.

We took the 1.5 hour drive over from Gulf Shores after seeing their episode on Guy Fieri's Triple D on Food Network! So glad we did! We even got to meet Mrs. Chinnis, the owner(Leah was too busy).🤣 My wife had the Pulled Butt sandwich and I had the Boss Burger. Both were just amazing! We had the potato sald and boss beans for our sides and I added a link of Conecuh sausage. All was superb! Everybody there, from the order takers, servers, owner, etc. were super freindly and seemed genuinely happy to see every customer!! I ordered a brisket sandwich to bring home for supper.
Don't forget to try the rib candy and jalapeño jelly on your sandwich! You'll be glad you tried them! Great job everybody! Can't wait to come back!

got the pulled pork sandwich. meat had ZERO flavor and was as dry as boomer humor. the seasoning sauce was water scared with garlic powder. potato salad was disrespectfully disgusting. banana pudding was watery and the bananas were black. green beans were dumped from a can and had less seasoning than printer paper. Mac and cheese was essentially just pasta in a cheese water sauce and the atrocity of what they dare to call sweet tea was an insult to all southerners. get a better staff too. they carried a conversation and it was quite clear they wanted to keep talking when I was approaching. the lady at the pickup register talked over me and was obviously annoyed to be at work.
