Michelle Hall was such a help to us after our baker for Bride and Groom’s cake closed shop. Michelle gave my daughter and her fiancé a new taste-testing and help them make choices it was a lovely experience!

Throughly disappointed in the service for a recent order I placed with Pollmans Bakery. I was told I HAD to purchase $50 of the same cookie for them to make this particular cookie. So I did. Paid for them up front as they requested. They were to be ready the next day at 2. No one bothered to call (yes they had my number) and let me know not to waste my time driving an hour to the bakery to get something that didn't exist. I was told they were too busy making king cakes to fullfill my order. I thought if you made a special order that should be fulfilled before making non pre-ordered items. I was refunded and left very upset. Called afterwards and was then promised to have them at my nieces house this morning before my flight left to travel back home. I really didn't expect them to fulfill their promise since they didn't make the pre-order in the first place. They called this morning to tell me they would NOT be able to fulfill my order for the 2nd time. I would be very cautious ordering with them. You too may show up to an empty promise. I had to give 1 star but 0 stars is what they deserve.

Are you like me…..tried numerous king cakes but always thought they weren’t all that, sometimes just dry slightly cinnamon flavored day old bread or overly stuffed with just a wad of insanely sweet cream cheese icing type filling?!?! Well I am almost 45 years old and lived in Mobile almost my entire life and have always been a Mardi gras lover. Mobile’s Carnival season is one of my favorites, running closely behind Christmas & College Football….. AND this is the first King Cake that I not only liked but absolutely LOVED!!! Moist, delicious, flavorful. I wish there was another way to describe the “filling” because it is definitely not filled the way you might think (like a custard or jelly filled donut) it is a perfect smattering of cream cheese that doesn’t overwhelm but compliments the cinnamon and vanilla undertones that scream MARDI GRAS!!! Do yourself a favor, and make sure you try one this year. I have purchased more than one and can guarantee I will be kicking off every carnival season with a Pollman’s Bakery king cake!!!

Unfortunately the king cake was stale and very dry when we purchased it; it wasn't what we expected...

There is no better king cake in the universe! Can't celebrate Mardi Gras without one!

I used to work downtown in Mobile and thought Pollman's had the best king cakes in Mobile. However, I was in Mobile today and picked one up from Broad St. and it was $32. Which would be pricey IF GOOD. Got it home, it is definitely days old. Just didn't taste fresh at all. And the recipe has changed for sure. The ones I used to get from the downtown location (now closed) were a much better sweet dough. This king cake is so stale and cheap cinnaminny tasting...it is uneditable. What a disappointment!

My wife and I stopped for a couple of sandwiches before we had to drive back to Atlanta, and their food was amazing! I also got the best Apple fritter I have ever had in my life! Everyone there was super friendly. We will definitely be back every time we are in town.
