My family and I went here for my birthday. The restaurant has a nice ambiance. We sat at the hibachi table. The food was seasoned and delicious. The cook was friendly and did all the tricks. However, we ordered sushi & our server never put in the order to be made. We had to go to the front to check on this after not seeing our server for some time. Other than that, the experience was great ! Highly recommend.

My husband and I always enjoy having date night at this restaurant. The service is always great and they really focus on paying attention to you. We haven't had a bad experience yet and plan to continue coming to this

Today at 2:45 on 3/23/24 my family of 4 adults and 1 child went to be seated at the hibachi table and after sitting there for 5 minutes with no one acknowledging us a server came and asked us to get up and move to a table with only 3 seats and the other two people move to an empty table behind the other table so we could use the same cook so two of our party would not be able to see the chef cooking and we would be separated. We came as a party and wanted to be seated together as a party. The excuse of being told we need to move was because one of the chefs was on break and it would be a long time before he came back on shift. We have ate here many times and never been treated like this. The family of 5 that was already at the table that they were wanting us to move to was sitting in the middle and they were not asked to move down so us 5 could sit together with them. Also, when we first arrived we asked for a specific chef and told he was on break. She said we have other cooks, She was very rude and had an attitude. I feel disrespected and upset we were treated this way. They lost our business. We got up and went to sho gun where we were able to be seated together and treated with respect.

I loved the sushi that I got, It was delicious. The squid was not my favorite though haha. Might just be preference. The staff was very patient with my indecisive family. We overall really enjoyed our trip :)

I have eaten at Shiso several times over the last few months, usually for lunch. The restaurant is very attractive and the food is excellent. Service today was particularly outstanding. Shiso is my favorite Asian restaurant in Mobile. I usually order tempura because it is so good, but I have also had teriyaki which is also excellent. Highly recommended!

We’ve dined in and got take out a few times . We’ve lived in Japan and Hawaii for half of our lives and just go for the food. We’re not into the teppanyaki (hibachi) tables, so I can’t comment on that experience. We’ve sat at the regular booths. Everything we’ve ordered has tasted good, and the service has been great. For take out, the online ordering is very convenient.

I was just at this restaurant and I must say the food and show was not good at all. The little show that comes with the food was less than pitiful at best and to top it all off my husband was finishing up his wine and before he could get the last drop in a lady comes and asks us to leave because they were busy and needed the table(that was so so rude and unprofessional of her) now you have a table but customers who will NEVER COME BACK!’ So if you like rude management and tasteless food with a pitiful show by all means go there otherwise pass on by and go a little further down the road. Thank me later because I just saved you a trip

Will never be back. They had horrible customer service as soon as I walked in the door at the host stand. My husband is a DV with spinal damage and needs a booth to sit in for comfort reason. They absolutely REFUSED to let him sit in a booth with 3 available from what we could see. Then insulted him by saying he could bring his own cushion to sit on on the hard chairs. It also was not busy when we arrived at 530. Do not recommended

As a huge fan of Japanese food and restaurants, I was looking forward to trying Shiso for the first time and I definitely wasn't disappointed. The restaurant is fairly large and separated into regular tables/booths, a bar, and a hibachi section (where food is cooked in front of you). We sat at a normal table due to having our baby with us, but we were able to watch some of the hibachi stations and they looked very entertaining.Despite it being a busy night, the atmosphere was relaxed and it felt quieter than it was. The servers were quick to take our order and were very friendly. Our complete order is listed below:- Hibachi dinner w/ shrimp, vegetables (broccoli, carrot, onion, zucchini, mushroom), and noodles- Hibachi dinner w/ steak and rice- Gyoza appetizer (6 wonton dumplings w/ soy sauce)- Raw bluefin tina Shiso sushi (nigiri) topped w/ fish roe. Served with pickled ginger and wasabi on the side- 2 house salads (lettuce and shredded carrot w/ ginger dressing)- Onion soup (onion broth w/ mushrooms and scallions)- Miso soup (miso broth w/ tofu chunks and seaweed)Everything was delicious, but I was especially impressed by the rich flavors of the bluefin nigiri sushi. The roe topping with ginger and wasabi on the side were great compliments for the bluefin. For the hibachi dinners, I felt like the noodles had just a tad too much soy sauce and the rice was a bit tamer, but overall it was all great.Prices for dinner were noticeably more expensive than for lunch (as much as $10 more per hibachi plate), so next time I plan to check out the lunch experience. Highly recommend giving Shiso a try! We'll definitely be adding it to our lunch rotation!Vegetarian options: Shiso doesn't have a dedicated vegetarian menu/section, but many dishes are available in vegetarian options such as tofu or rice/noodle dishes with vegetables and no meat.Parking: Fair amount of parking in a lot surrounding the restaurant.Kid-friendliness: Average kid-friendliness for a restaurant. Kids can have a lot of fun in the hibachi section of the restaurant where chefs cook in front of you.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair-accessible entrance and wheelchair-friendly restaurant overall.

There were 16 of us for the hibachi grill. It was entertaining and the food was delicious. Everyone had a great time. We highly recommend this restaurant.
