I went right before closing so there weren't many people there. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. Felt like I was home. They offer various soul food dishes. I got the collards, macaroni and cheese, yams, and fried fish. Everything was tasty! I do wonder if they put sugar in their greens though. 😅. It's attached to the legacy museum so it's a great stop when you're done touring and reflecting.

The fish & the chicken today both seemed as if they were cooked way ahead of time and kept in a hotbox where they dried out. The purple hull peas were not seasoned well & bland. The lemon cake was dried out and tasted old. The cashier looked to be pulling double duty by emptying trash and you could tell by her demeanor that she was unhappy about the work that she was doing.

Several years ago, my wife and I had a meal so good that we've been craving a meal here since then, but I was kind of disappointed today versus my first experience. I went to college in Montgomery and want to support local businesses, but we'll probably pass on Pannie-George's the next time we're in town.

Lunch options were nominal. I got the Meat with two sides, baked chicken, yellow rice with gravy, green beans and a roll. The chicken was ok, seasoned well. The rice was overcooked and bland. The gravy is definitely out of a can or package. The green beans were canned and SALTY. I complained to myself about the small portion but glad I didn't get more of the food. It definitely was not worth the $15. I had really high hopes for this place as I've been anticipating eating here for a while now after visiting the museum when I didn't go because it was crowded. I'm going to go back and try them again, maybe on the weekend when there's more visitors expected at the museum.

I woke up in the middle of the night and had a flashback to 2022. The food and dessert was so gooooooood! My fiancé and I raved about it for days. Delicious! 😋

Went in today 3/12/2026 it was a tad bit more busier but believe it was because of school field trips. The staff are super sweet and patient the food is delicious 10/10 and the peach cobbler to DIE FOR best $12 I spent would go here to eat inside!

I've read several of these comments and not one of these comments were addressed, the food today was horrible you had one person working the entire restaurant, I never see the manager. Never. Also, the chicken is always dry and the greens have red pepper flakes, they are always out of food, this restsurant has no consistency at all, I wonder I'd they even read the comments. It's so disheartening to spend your money and to get awful food, I rather drive to Auburn. Manager you guys need to get it together and seve quality food.

Food selection was bad and it was not good. Stood in line for at least 30 minutes, and the sweet and unsweetened tea were mixed up. Will not go back!

Amazing southern fair, the staff was helpful and the atmosphere was comfortable. If you’re in Montgomery and looking for real, southern comfort food, this is the restaurant.

This was my first time at this restaurant, after visiting The Legendary Museum. We went into the restaurant to grab a bite to eat but we was met with poor customer service, the older gentleman with gray hair , had an attitude like he didn’t want to be there. I know people have bad days , but if you know you can’t control your emotions to do your job don’t come to work. Needless to say we walked out cause the food didn’t look that good anymore after being met with his ugliness. But the museum was great. Service get 0 stars!!!!

I was so disappointed with my food; this will be my last time eating here. On a positive note the restaurant was clean. Now about the food. The fried chicken was so hard and dry. I don't know what kind of seasoning they put in the collards, they were so nasty I couldn't even eat them. The cornbread was crumbly and dry. The beans were pretty good. I was expecting good soul food and this food was the worst. It's located inside the EJU museum so I would think this restaurant would be top tier. When my husband and I approached to place our order, the staff did not acknowledge us right away. It was terrible. They moved so slow and did not display good communication skills. We definitely were not met with a standard of excellence. I thought it was interesting that kool aid was a beverage option since that's a staple in the black community. This is a beautiful restaurant but the food and service don't make for an unforgettable experience. The EJI is a much respected museum that I'm very proud of and I hate that Pannie George's doesn't reflect a high standard. Do better and make improvements.

Fantastic food. Loved the yams and the broccoli rice casserole. Fish was good too. Hushpuppies were a little weak but the cornbread made up for them.

Really nice restaurant. The food was good but overpriced for the portions you received. A meat and 2 sides with a fountain drink shouldn't be $17.35. Longer wait than I anticipated but it usually means the food is great, BUT handing over that kind of money for what is received, this restaurant isn't the place to keep coming back to.
