My husband an I was in Montgomery on 9/18/2025. I asked someone where's a good soul food restaurant they recommended Simply Southern. I had never heard of this place an had no idea where it was. We found it. I was amazed there was so many different flowers♥️. The young lady who took our order her customer service was great! She was so up beat. My greedy spirit told me order fried chicken, collard, Mac an cheese an a side of green beans an yams. My husband got the same thing just not green beans and yams. That food was GREAT!!! Everything was seasoned just right.I haven't had food like that in years. I've gained 10lbs these last week an half eating this food😂. Bc we went back a week later on Fri an we was there this pass Sunday. Simply Southern Cafe keep doing what your doing. Don't change anything.

YES it's a bit salty but that's what makes Southern soul food SO delicious!!! We stop here whenever driving thru Montgomery & it's usually on Sundays when turkey & dressing is featured along w/several other entrées & choice of sides. We are able to eat THREE MEALS from the portions they serve! And the people there are SO VERY sweet even though we are usually the only white folks in the place. Always a long line to the cafeteria style service but it goes pretty quickly. Treat yourself & try them out!!!!!
Food hit every corner of my stomach and the portions were generous. Take ya' mama nem to Simply Southern.

It's been a long time since I've had some Southern cooking, and this hit the spot. The staff is invaluable and friendly. I hope this establishment will be around for years to come, so I can revisit it next time I'm in town. Thank you

The food is Amazing 👏
Simply Southern is simply delicious!! Home cooking at its best. The ladies behind the counter were beyond friendly and made us feel like family. We had the beef tips and pigs feet. Both meals were amazing and brought back memories of family get together meals. Can't wait to go back!!

Together we spent 50 dollars and all of our food is horrible ribs boiled and unseasoned, fish over breaded with very little fish and taste like it was fried in chicken grease, mac n cheese fresh but bland , yams were super sweet , baked beans, cabbage and cornbread was good. I have always enjoyed simply southern but today was not a good day for them. They gotta do better! I pay for what I want but I want to enjoy what I pay for as well!

I knew the food was good when I saw a stream of elderly people coming and going. Elderly people only eat food that's well cooked and very tender. Upon entering someone just screams welcome to simply Southern. The meatloaf was tender string beans mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese were to die for. The downside is the inside of the restaurant is crappy looking looks like his damn near falling apart. You don't want to sit inside you want to get your food and go.

The food is excellent. The servers were obviously working overtime especially when the lunch crowd came in. The food was a flavor rush! So good.

DO NOT visit or eat here. The food, ambiance, and customer service are horrible. We were in town visiting from DE and asked a local where to get good soul food. Unfortunately, this place was recommended. The dressing/stuffing is very salty and soft almost a mashed potatoes consistency. Against our better judgement after walking in and noticing how run down and dirty the actual restaurant is and noticing they have a no refund policy of any kind, we ordered 2 meals and 2 drinks. For drinks, they only offered bottled water, tea, and lemonade. We ordered 2 Arnold Palmers (tea/lemonade mix). After paying for the food and drinks, we proceeded to get our drinks from the dented metal containers. After filling the cups partially with lemonade, I realized the tea container was empty. Asked them for more tea and was informed it was out and they didn't have anymore for the day. It was 3:45 pm and they closed at 5 pm. I asked for a refund for 1 of the drinks ($3) since we specifically asked for Arnold Palmers and not lemonade and was told they would not provide a refund because I had already put lemonade in the cups. This I found to be totally unacceptable and found to be a very bad business practice. How was a customer who had already paid supposed to know they were out of tea when they sold you TEA and then they are unwilling to provide a refund!?! We simply got up and left and left the food we had paid for on the table. The place is DIRTY and hot. We were trying to support their efforts at having a very poorly ran, lack lustre business. We made a very big mistake and would like to prevent other travelers/potential customers from doing the same.
The chicken was dry and Mac and cheese tasted burnt. The cabbage was delicious. Service was great and everyone was sweet. This isn't a real restaurant. It's a cafeteria style and they have tables. I'd try it again if I was in town again.
