Had dinner here tonight with my Dad, brother, and nephew. Could not be more pleased with every aspect of our experience here. The kale and avocado salad was fresh and flavorful while not overly dressed. Who really likes kale? Well, I eat it because it’s healthful, but this was also delicious. Two in our party had burgers and loved them. One had pork tacos and loved them. I had sautéed veggies, deliciously spiced sweet potatoes, and perfectly cooked brussels sprouts. Loved all three. Nothing was oily or ruined with butter or salt or overcooked. And people were so friendly from the minute we walked in until we left. Service was attentive, but not obtrusive.I came straight to Montgomery after a week in Charleston and Kiawah eating at some of the best restaurants in the nation, so my standards were set high.I would say this is Charleston quality food, but with a better overall experience because a) it wasn’t jammed packed with obnoxious people from the northeast, b) the food wasn’t overpriced, and c) I didn’t feel like a number! So happy for Montgomery to have such a great restaurant. I will be eating here the next time I’m in town! Hope y’all stay in business forever!Vegetarian options: They have great vegetables and are happy to make tweaks, such as leaving the parmesan off the sprouts, to accommodate. Loved the spiced sweet potatoes.Dietary restrictions: Plenty of dairy free options.

Our first visit to Cork & Cleaver and it definitely will not be our last!! The space and atmosphere is laid back and intimate. The options for brunch provided something for everyone. However, whatever you do, don't skip the Fried Green Tomatoes FGT!! They are to die for! The Shrimp and Grits w/ Conencuh Sausage was outstanding as well. It was a wonderful time and we look forward to going back for dinner next!!

I was in Montgomery for a month for work and I at least ate here once or twice a week. Every server was I had was great, the Bartenders were great, and the GM is always there working just as hard as everyone else. She is very pleasant! Lunch, dinner, and brunch were a hit everytime!

Cork and Cleaver is pricier than we expected from the look of the place. It's small, and decorated with rustic artwork from local artists. The food, however, was AMAZING. Went with a party of three and all were impressed with the taste and presentation. Service was phenomenal. A wonderful experience all around. Worth a little extra money.

Great service. Excellent meal. Cute as can be spot. We left Cork and Cleaver and pleasantly stuffed. We were just passing through town. So glad we stopped!

In a city as small as Montgomery it can be difficult to find good, high quality restaurants, but they do it really well here! Cork & Clever is one of those good ones with a selection of fresh plates and a lot of vegetables to accompany them. As I do often, I started with a dessert appetizer with the white chocolate bread pudding. And holy cow!! This is one of the best desserts I've had in a really long time. It was a large portion size, and the flavor and texture were on point. You HAVE to try this if you come here. Moving on to the salmon dish, the presentation was a little strange as it was on this giant plate and only covered about 30% of it with the rest just blank. lol But no big deal in the long run! The salmon was great and tender, the veggies were cooked well and flavorful, and just an overall great dish. This will be one of my go to places on my trips to Montgomery from now on!

My colleagues and I decided to have a lunch meeting at The Cork & Cleaver before traveling back home to Michigan on Friday March 1, 2024. Upon arriving we observed a large wooden board covering one half of the door with a hand written sign attached saying come in we’re open. After being seated and ordering, it took a little while for the food to arrive and I noticed others were served before us. Our waiter Michael was kind and that was the best part of this experience. I ordered a wedge salad and shrimps and grits. I did not enjoy my food at all. I will spare you the details; however, shortly after leaving the restaurant I became very ill ? . This was not ideal as I was going through the airport checking-in and security checkpoints. Once I arrived at my gate I noticed my bank was charged twice from The Cork & Cleaver meal that my body had just released. I called the restaurant and was told the extra charge should fall off. On Monday March 4, 2024, it had not fallen off and I called The Cork & Cleaver again. Needless to say today is March 28, 2024 and I still don’t have my money back! This was the worst restaurant and experience I have ever had and I would NOT recommend The Cork & Cleaver to any one!

We made an impromptu decision to visit The Cork and Cleaver for brunch after the Montgomery Half Marathon/5K. Despite our large party of 12 and the last-minute reservation, the staff at The Cork and Cleaver were incredibly accommodating, ensuring our experience started on a positive note. From the moment we laid eyes on our plates, we knew we were in for a treat. The presentation was impeccable, showcasing the chef's attention to detail and culinary artistry. The flavors did not disappoint either. The western omelet paired with gouda-seasoned ground grits was a standout, bursting with savory goodness. The french toast melted in my wife's mouth, and the smoked salmon tray was beautiful.Despite minor inconveniences such as having to search for the restaurant due to unclear directions and the state of the restroom facilities, our overall experience was overwhelmingly positive. It's worth noting that these issues did not detract from the exceptional quality of the food and the warm hospitality extended by the staff. In summary, The Cork and Cleaver exceeded our expectations with its delectable brunch offerings, impeccable plating, and accommodating service. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for a memorable dining experience, The Cork and Cleaver comes highly recommended. We left feeling satisfied and eager to return for another culinary adventure.

Update: Just came here today with my wife for happy hour and sat at the bar. Nice friendly staff, and a superb bartender who was a very knowledgeable mixologist. He made an outstanding Negroni and old fashioned. Additionally we had the tuna nachos and they were superb as well. We will come more often!

We had been traveling all day to get to Maxwell AFB and just need a quick meal.I really went not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised...my wife had soup (which was awesome) and I had a bacon burger (also great). The wait for the food was a bit long but was ok..Clean restrooms, nice staff kind of a tiny restaurant but definitely worth going to check out .My wife wanted a shrimp salad but they said that it was on a separate meal (?) I didn't understand so she just got a cup of soup.About the only thing that was not great would probably have to be the fries ...paid 7 bucks for a stack of soggy 1 to 2 inch brown starch sticks they called fries. If you go, skip the fries , they are not worth it.
