The food wasn't as good as it use to be. They recently took the Jerk Chicken nachoes off the menu...BUMMER!! So needless to say, I was pretty disappointed. Crab claws were good!!

Went to the restaurant today.
To cut a long story short:
The service was unmotivated and slow.
We waited 45 minutes for our food, even though the restaurant wasn't particularly busy.
What's more, the food was hardly enjoyable, especially since we had to ask for cutlery.
All in all: not recommended.

RESTAURANT HAS DECLINED. Not the same quality or food as before. They have decreased portion sizes which are noticeable but prices have not. Forget about ordering the crab claws, they look like half orders. Overpriced for quantity you get now. Would not recommend at this price point. Used to be better, as my family and I frequented for years.

Fun stop on my road trip through Alabama! Close to the Riverfront. Staff was friendly and the Oysters were superb!

So my co-worker and I stopped in here to get a steak. First of all, it took 10 minutes before someone finally came over and even asked us what we wanted to drink. The truly disappointing thing happened when we attempted to order. So we asked about the Top Sirloin and we were told that they are completely out of it. We asked when they would have more and we were told, that they wouldn’t be selling it anymore and that the only option was the $42 Ribeye. Why have a steak on your menu that you have no intention of selling. Needless to say, we decided to take our business elsewhere. I expected more.

We drove down from North Carolina to pick up our new chihuahua from a local rescue organization. Seeing this place's positive listing on Bring Fido we thought it would be perfect for a first night out with our pet. We chose well! From the moment we arrived the staff were super friendly and even brought our new dog some water from the patio. Jason made sure we had everything we needed for a great night. Food was all around fantastic, and the patio was a fun way to experience downtown for the brief time we were here. If you're just passing through, I can't recommend this place enough!

Wintzells is a tradition to us when we travel in Alabama. Oyster dishes and fish dishes shine here. We have been to this location and three others all are consistent.

I ordered the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp which was totally dry and over cooked in addition the shrimp was covered in freezer burn. The restaurant was freezing cold and all the ceiling fans on-which they would do nothing about. Do not waste your money here.

There was Noone greeting customers at the door. Several people left due to no service at the door. Consider having a Host at the door to greet and seat the customers and also to help clear the tables for the next customers.
Once seated. Customer service at the table is good.

We were sat quickly but we waited about 15min before our server showed up. I will say that once she did, she was very friendly. I would have scored the food better but for the price point, the oysters were tiny. I had the surf and turf. My ribeye steak was decent but the grilled shrimp was slightly over cooked. My girlfriend had the Seafood Alfredo and it was 5 star in flavor but the seafood was tiny and the portions were a bit small. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I'd spend my money there again.

Food was mediocre at best—nothing stood out, and the cleanliness of the place left a lot to be desired (tables felt scummy and overall atmosphere felt unkept). My wife and her friend each ordered the $40 surf and turf, medium rare, but both steaks came out more than well done—closer to shoe leather than steakhouse quality.

The experience ended poorly when we stayed a bit past closing without realizing it. Instead of a polite heads-up, someone from the kitchen shouted across the restaurant, “We are waiting on y’all, so time to go.” Not offensive, but certainly unprofessional—a simple, face-to-face conversation would have gone a long way.

On the positive side, our server was excellent. They handled the table with professionalism and kindness despite the poor food quality and the rude approach from the back of house.

Overall, if you’re expecting a higher-end dining experience, you’ll be disappointed. This place feels more like a fast-casual chain (think Chili’s or Applebee’s with a hint of Sizzler) but not as clean. I wouldn’t say “don’t go,” but I also wouldn’t go out of my way to return.
