I am close with the family, and they are too polite to cause a stink over something, especially since it might negatively affect the bride and grooms memory. Same goes for the guests. No one is going to complain to the family and or caterers themselves and cause drama at a wedding.
However, I can tell by all of your replies to other unsatisfied customers that you never take responsibility for anything. Its always an excuse or the customers fault. Thats a horrible way to run a business.
Original Review: WARNING, do not get catering from this place. I have never eaten at the restaurant, it may be fine, but was recently at a catered event where they provided the food. It was HORRIBLE. Worst catered food I’ve ever had. Was obvious the chicken had never touched a grill or smoker. Tasted like they got it frozen from Sisco. It had that prepackaged frozen texture and shape, no smoke taste or grill marks, and tasted overwhelmingly like rosemary. Did not taste like any bbq I’ve ever had. Brisket was shredded, which is how you serve brisket if you don’t know how to cook a brisket. It was also the driest brisket I’ve ever had. I literally had to take a drink of water to choke it down. No smoke ring or bark on any of the meat leads me to believe this was cooked in an oven in a tray, not on a smoker. Had no bbq taste at all, just tasted like bone-dry pot roast.
But the worst offender was the macaroni and cheese. The fact that they sent this out at all proves they have no business catering. It was way overcooked noodles sitting in a tray of slightly yellow/brown water with what looked like tiny bits of separated cheese curds sprinkled in. If it wouldn’t have been obvious I would have taken a picture. Box mac and cheese would be a gigantic improvement. Looked and tasted disgusting. My som wouldn’t even swallow it, had to spit it out. They obviously do not care about the customer, because they had to know it wasn’t right when they sent it out.
Potatoes and green beans were below average, but not as bad as the other items I mentioned above. Overall I was appalled that anyone would risk any type of reputation with this food. If I could give it a zero I would. Dont waste your money on food this bad. They should be ashamed of themselves.

First time here. Came in for a bbq sandwich but they had bologna sandwich on special for Wednesday so I had to try. Very pleased with sandwich and friendly service. I’ll be back.

Ole Hickory did a fantastic job catering for the wedding we had in Oct ‘24! My husband and I were very happy with the food and the team was very professional. I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for good barbecue!

People are friendly and the atmosphere is nice for a hole in the wall style bbq joint. Food wise... not worth the hype in my opinion. I wish I was eating whatever everyone else was eating in these reviews but bbq that needs to have sauce covering over the meat is not the bbq I would have expected by a place that folks rave about.
Never had pulled brisket before. That was different. Never heard of brisket with no fat. Rarely do I ever come across a bbq joint that doesn't have burnt ends or burnt ends on the secret menu (this place didn't have burnt ends). Ribs still had the membrane on the back but I appreciated that the rib meat was not fall off the bone.
My favorite part of my dining experience was the hot sauce and potato salad.
Not my style of bbq.

Friendly staff and the food came out hot and fast. I enjoyed the pulled pork plate with potato salad, baked beans and slaw. They include a dinner roll too.
They also had pies available but I couldn't fit anymore food after the pork platter, I was stuffed.
It was not very crowded. I would definitely return and try some of that pie!
If you are wanting some killer food this locally owned restaurant is the place to go. Their food is fresh and has lots of unique and amazing flavors in all of their dishes. The sandwiches the bbq plates are all outstanding. You won’t go wrong with anything you pick here. I would highly recommend if you are looking for some amazing food and quality service.
