Southern Ale House Dockside

I love having Dockside open up Hwy 43 to give us another option for dinner close to home! If you haven’t tried the fried shrimp or the catfish, you’re definitely missing out! There’s just something extra about the breading that had me eating ALL my shrimp and not sharing with my husband! 🤣 Highly recommend checking it out!

this review is for dockside on lake tuscaloosa. Our third visit and it's not been positive. I know everyone loves it, but it can't be for the food or service! I ordered fish, which was very uncooked, they did remove from the bill thank you. one person had prime rib that was really good but more fat than meat, but no complaint. we ordered drinks that one alcohol( captain morgan) they dont serve. . the lake atmosphere is what's drawing your customers, it's not the food! Come on you can do better!

Waited for an hour and left. 2pm on a Saturday, only 30% of occupied tables and the host told us they were too busy and did not want to “stress the servers”

This was possibly one of the worst meals I’ve ever eaten. Got a wedge salad. It wasn’t a wedge and was not good at all. I got a steak (the most expensive thing on the menu) and couldn’t eat it. It was bland with no taste at all and I asked for steak sauce and there was none. My husband said the salmon he got was the worst he had ever eaten and he couldn’t eat his food either. Everything we got was cold and warmed over. My 2 year old grandson who would pick a gnat up off the floor and put in his mouth couldn’t eat his kid’s meal. We will NEVER go back again and will warn all of our friends to stay away. Our waitress was precious. She was the only good thing about this place. I could not say enough bad things about this place! Awful! Awful! Awful!

The shrimp had a soggy, greasy batter that tasted like it was cooked in old grease. Price, service, and Atmosphere was good. Music was nice, but too loud.

I’ve eaten here three times. First 2 times drinks were good. Both times I got fish with 2 different sauces. The sauces were very spicy, with no mention of that prior. The last time I went I got the special tacos, I specifically asked are the tacos spicy and was assured they were not. They were very spicy, the meat was almost inedible it was so tough and the tortillas were cold corn which tastes like a piece of paper, not your usual soft corn tortillas. I was in a very large party so maybe some reason as to the food being cold. The appetizers were good. I like some spice but each time I went, my food was way too spicy. The lake is pretty, the ambiance could be a little darker, very bright.

Went to Southern Ale House Dockside on Lake Tuscaloosa last night to listen to live music band Second Chance. So much fun! Service was excellent (thanks Lauren) and food was wonderful. Salmon was outstanding. Bama Chicken Sliders and drinks were great too. Nice open space can accommodate big groups. Highly recommend.

Me and my family just had the best lunch at Southern Al Dockside !! The waiter was amazing and everyone got burgers except one and they were absolutely delicious!! Love this place so much!! It’s so cozy and so wonderful plus you cannot beat the view from the water 💦 even if you are sitting in the restaurant!! We will definitely be back !! Went last night. We got there a little after 6:00 and didn’t get our food until close to 8:00. It took at least 30 minutes just to get our drinks. And refills took an eternity. Live music was WAY too loud so you couldn’t hear anything. Food wasn’t bad, but just ok. Love Southern Ale House, but I think we’ll have to give Dockside another chance someday because that did not impress us.
