The food and service are top notch! We ate of the ala carte menu. With four adult entrees and edamame for an appetizer the bill was $100. We all had water.

First of all, every time I’ve eaten here it’s been delicious. I’ve been a hand full of times.
Tried calling to make a to go order and phone doesn’t work. I’m ordering sushi for a friend who just had twins and she is wanting sushi, not hospital food. I get her and her husbands order and I arrive at the restaurant. Nobody comes to the door so peek my head in and a lady is sitting down on her phone. I jangle my keys so she can see that I’m there. She comes to assist me and I tell her I need to make a to go order. She opens the menu and asks what do I want. I tell her I have a pretty big order and she doesn’t bother to begin writing it down or anything. As soon as I pick a sushi roll she says “oh I’m sorry, sushi bar is closed. It’s open tomorrow. See you tomorrow” then assists me out of the restaurant…. If you don’t want business just don’t open the doors.

Update 6/7/24. Horrible food, probably the worst food in the city. Over $100.00 for 2 of us to eat. Nice people but the chef cooking didn't have a clue! He didn't season any of the food, his sauces tasted like they were 10 years old. Even the fortune cookies they gave out were disgusting.
Update 8/23/22 Food again was ok but now adding 18% to the bill because the service is so bad they force you to pay, we won't be back!!!
Food was ok, very little seasoning on the food. The cook was very dry but funny. Enjoyed his jokes and style. Water tastes bad, tea very weak. Been here a few times but seems to be getting worse at each visit.

Food was too greasy and bland to eat. Food is way over priced for it to not even be good. Server( Jamie ) was rude and not focused on giving us what we ordered even though we were the only ones in the restaurant. Maybe it was just a bad day but I would not recommend.
The meal could have been fantastic, but I’ll never know, because they didn’t even bother to openThey advertise their lunch hours as being 11-2, Monday through Sunday; this is posted both online and on their physical storefront. We showed up at 11:15 on Saturday to try to eat lunch for an early Mother’s Day weekend, and the place was still closed. We went and ate elsewhere, and on the way home an hour later, it was still closed.If you’re going to post hours, you should probably stick to them.

It was a interesting experience, the place was decent and a whole vibe. The cooker was funny and entertaining. I love the food. I definitely recommend to the ppl to visit Zen Steak & Sushi Bar 10/10

Man cook the chicken first. It needs to hit 165. The steaks and everything else don’t. Got people sitting around with cold vegetables and rice while the unseasoned chicken just sits there slowly simmering because they put it on late. I ended up just getting a to go box with just chicken in it. And then you want an 18% charge for the chef then a tip for the “server”? Man how about you get the server cooking chicken on one side and the chef doing the rest on the other.Look if Mikata can deliver this product perfectly every time and taste amazing so can they. I’m not being unreasonable. I just want my food at a reasonable time.I probably won’t go back.

Ordered edamame and an Auburn roll to go ($25 later..) and the portions were SMALL. Worst of all, I woke up sick to my stomach in the early hours of the morning. After being sick, spending $25 bucks on super small portions and not really good food - I won't return.
