This is my second trip within a week to Bolo! In town at Orange Beach with family and always trying to find a place that is a good value. We’ve tried many of the nicer restaurants in the area and, while many have great atmosphere, few seem to have the kind of food and prices that would bring me back. Bolo does not have that problem. I love everything about this place. It is a little off the beaten track but not inconvenient. While other places have a 1-2 hour wait, Bolo you can walk right in and have a seat at your table. The atmosphere is lovely. The driftwood fish sculptures, intimate lighting and Southern architectural style of the restaurant is just perfect. So far, the wait staff has been very pleasant and informative on their food. Prices are very attractive for what you get. I simply can’t get past the 8oz Sirloin that looks and tastes much more like a high end fillet! Crunchy, well seasoned exterior and soft, tender, pink deliciousness on the inside - again, more like a fillet. I’m guessing aged beef because it is effortless to eat. Their crispy Brussels sprouts are quite tasty with just a little grind of sea salt from their table-side salt grinder. A nice selection of wine, beer and cocktails top things off nicely. I honestly can’t figure why they aren’t jam packed.

Service and setting was nice, romantic lighting and went at a time where it was quiet. However the food was very disappointing especially for the price. Such bland green beans. Garlic mashed potatoes no flavor. Grilled chicken being bitter with whole peppercorns on top. Asked for the sirloin to be cooked medium and it came out rare.

We decided on whim to go here for dinner, after seeing another local steakhouse was completely packed, and BOLO did not disappoint! Our server was attentive and sweet, the food was excellent and tasty, and the atmosphere was wonderful!

Truly delicious food. Best steak, especially with sauce. Best pork chop- seriously amazing. Hands down best tequila shrimp appetizer I’ve ever had. Ever. And I eat out lots. Go!

Had an amazing “prime rib night” tonight. My husband and I loved our dinner! It’s an amazing deal. Angie, our bartender and waitress, was great!

We ate here for dinner last night and it was delicious!!! The only thing they did wrong was put chives instead of cheese on my spouse’s baked potato. Everything else was perfect! The steak was so well seasoned and flavorful! I had steak fries and a Caesar salad as my sides and both were delicious! We had chocolate mousse cake for dessert which was just as amazing! Will definitely be back once we’re in town again!!!!

Great place. Food was amazing. The fish was prepared perfectly and the steak was tender. Brussel sprouts and shrimp appetizers were amazing. Our server, Will, was great and always checking on us.
The two negatives I would say were the desserts and drinks. The key lime pie and peach bread pudding lacked taste. The drinks...the beer was warm and the lemon drop was weak and small for the price. All in all, great place to eat and not too big.

Horrible restaurant! The waitress was very strange and not knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the fresh catch of the day and while the fish was good the sides were awful! My mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes, so gross! My husband ordered the ribeye and asked for medium....it was well done. Everything was less than average and for the price this place was a HUGE disappointment. Don't waste your time.

We should’ve been alarmed when we walked in on the 4th of July to an empty restaurant making our reservation unnecessary. The waiter brought some house bread to the table that was generic and average at best. We started our meal with some oysters- some raw and some charbroiled. The tiny, farm raised oysters had a decent flavor, but the stale crackers made them difficult to enjoy. We opened every package in hopes of finding a fresh cracker, but they should probably just throw that entire box in the dumpster. The charbroiled oysters were overcooked and covered with a burned cheese crust that they attempted to cover with more cheese. The cheese to oyster ratio definitely favored the cheese. They were not even close to gulf oysters- and yes, we realize they are not in season, but don’t list them on the menu if you cannot provide good quality to your customers. We both ordered the special- stuffed flounder with a berry salad. The berry salad was fresh with delicious berries. The dressing was a bit much, but overall not bad. The bread that was served with it must’ve cooked longer than the oysters, but almost perfect if they were going for crouton status. We were served large, beautiful flounders with the heads still on.. not the prettiest fish in the sea. We could’ve gone without the beady eyes and crooked smiles staring back at us. The flounder was well cooked without any seasoning, and the crab and shrimp “stuffing” was more of a thin sauce with a smidge of crab meat encased with a thick cheese crust (who covers stuffed flounder with cheese??). The shrimp either jumped off the plate in embarrassment or were pureed because they were never found. Speaking of missing shrimp- we ordered a side of grilled shrimp that were forgotten. We eventually got them well into our entree. We were thankful for the 4 freshly grilled shrimp, though the flavor was average. The best part of the meal was offered by our waiter, a slice of chocolate mousse cake that he said was made in house. It was rich, chocolatey, and moist- truly the best thing we ate there- and to think we almost skipped it since the rest of the meal resembled a dumpster fire.
