I ordered a small cake for my hubby and I to enjoy while taking a weekend getaway. I got say it. Was absolutely delicious.

Called in advance of our vacation for a special “golden” birthday cake for our daughter. The cake was beautiful, delicious and made her birthday extra-special! Thank you!!!

AMAZING cupcakes! We got a variety of cupcakes to celebrate when we came for vacation and the ladies in the shop made it easy for me to pick out a variety of flavors to try. They gave me a couple suggestions of their top sellers (caramel and strawberry) and boy they did not disappoint. Every flavor we had were simply to die for ❤️ thank you Deep South Cakes for an amazing treat!

Beautiful cakes that are all melt in your mouth no matter the flavor. The caramel is a family favorite along with the wedding (almond buttercream) and the marble! These cakes never disappoint and always leave your sweet tooth satisfied.

I really wanted to enjoy my treats from here but sadly I thought they were really disappointing. :(

I came in about two weekends ago while on vacation with my in-laws in the area.

This small shop is located in a large shopping center next to a grocery store I was unfamiliar with (Rouse's, if I remember correctly). Thankfully, that makes parking pretty easy.

The inside is simple but cute, and very clean. The one girl working that day sort of looked at me like I'd grown three heads when I came in and didn't offer any assistance, but warmed up when I chatted her up while checking out. She was quite nice once we spoke to each other but the lack of hello or can I help you after looking right at me in an otherwise-empty shop was kinda weird.

I selected two cake slices: a caramel cake slice and an oreo chocolate cake slice. I was somewhat tempted by the German chocolate cake but couldn't discern any coconut or pecan pieces in the frosting. Maybe it was a more literal /german/ chocolate cake, rather than the chocolate cake with pecan and coconut frosting named after Sam German? I usually assume the latter in average US bakeries but who can say.

The lady at the register informed me the cake slices were BOGO that day, so the price was right! Though I can't help but wonder if the fact they were BOGO reflected some kind of decline in quality or an older cake slice, because sadly I didn't really enjoy either cake.

I will admit I delayed a day or two between buying my slices and sharing them with my husband, so perhaps that contributed to the deterioration of it.

At any rate, the Oreo chocolate cake was very dry. The icing had kind of separated from the cake and had crystallized into a crunchy, saccharine strip. My husband wouldn't even finish his half of the piece.

The caramel cake was better, a tiny bit more moist with slightly less "crackly" icing. Still not my favorite -- a little on the dense side, and still fairly dry.

Again, perhaps this experience was partially on me for delaying a day or so in eating my treats, but I dunno. Perhaps cupcakes are the way to go instead? I'm not sure. I'm sad I didn't have a super positive experience, but I like the concept of this business and I wish them success!

We visited Deep South Cake Company while in Orange Beach on vacation. We were having a group birthday party and I had read a lot about Deep South’s caramel cake. I have never been a fan of caramel cake, but I thought I would go ahead and try one since everybody raves about them online. It was way better than I expected. I expected to not like it at all, but it was delicious. We also did some assorted cupcakes and our group loved all of it. I am so thankful that we found this little gem while on vacation. We will definitely visit again! 🩵

I ordered a cake from DS to celebrate a birthday in our group of friends. I followed her recommendations and ordered the Caramel Cake. I had her ad pecans to the cake. The cake was delicious. The icing was great and the cake was moist and tasty as well. Her shop was filled with all her other cakes and cupcakes. Weather you have a special event or just have a sweet tooth craving, check Deep South out.

We just happened upon this store today and I am so glad we did. We got a half dozen assorted cupcakes but now I wish I had gotten a whole dozen of just the caramel! That was the best cupcake I have had in a while and I bake. The cake itself was so soft and fluffy. The caramel icing was perfection. If you are in Orange Beach make sure you stop in!!

I needed a simple cake for my mom’s 65th birthday and wanted a wedding cake style flavor cake. It was one of the moistest and most delicious cakes I’ve had! I highly recommend this bakery.

We ordered our son a birthday cake for his 2nd birthday while on vacation at orange beach, and it was by far one of the most delicious cakes we have ever had!! I would drive 4 hours just to order another cake from here!

I have never left a bad review but my experience was awful. I put in an order for decorative cookies for my daughter’s sweet 16. Two days before pick up I received a TEXT letting me know they misplaced the order and couldn’t make them for me. Of course I was upset because it was one of my daughter’s very few requests but stuff happens right? Well the lady tried to make it right and said she would make cupcakes for half off. I agreed that would be fine. I text back asked how many cookies and how much it would be & 7 days later I still have no response. Of course the party was a week ago. I’m sure it was minor to them but it was a huge deal for me.
