I've never had anything from J&E's that wasn't really good and I ve tried several different things during a 3 year period. Joshua Carter from Mr. Dan's Plumbing just across HW 78 from J&Es recommended us go there because of the good experience he had always had. Great little restaurant.
Vegetarian options: There are salads and veggies on buffet

One of the few local owned home cooking places around. Probably the best fried chicken in the area-very good! Burgers are also great. Menu also has BBQ, salads, variety of sides. Breakfast is also great, traditional menu of biscuits, gravy, eggs, etc. Prices are very low, really a bargain for the excellent food they serve. Only downside is they are cash only (they do have an ATM inside) and close earlier than most places. Dining room just reopened, but you can call ahead and pick up at the window on west side of building. Recommend!

We order take out all the time. Chicken has their hand breading and oh so good.. Hamburgers, hamburger steak, and livers are also excellent. I haven't had the breakfast lately, but let me tell you, when I used to get it, it was the best.

Absolute best livers ive had since i was a kid! Always loved their burgers but i think i found my new favorite meal in oxford.
