A Restaurant with Potential: Honest Reflections on Food, Service, and Opportunity
I’ve had the opportunity to visit this restaurant several times and sample a variety of items on the menu. While there are some highlights, there are significant areas that could use improvement. I’m writing this review not to discourage but to provide constructive feedback because I believe this place has tremendous potential. Its location, just steps from the hockey rink and a natural gathering spot, should make it a bustling hub of activity. Yet, it often isn’t, and I think it’s worth exploring why.
The Food: Inconsistent and Often Underwhelming
Let’s start with the food. Over the course of my visits, I’ve tried quite a bit from the menu. Unfortunately, many items fall short of expectations.
The Hoagie: A forgettable experience with nothing to set it apart.
The Salad: Freshness is key, but the lettuce was limp, which was disappointing.
French Dip: Mediocre at best, lacking the rich, savory flavor you’d expect from a great French Dip sandwich.
The Pretzel: Bland and uninspired compared to pretzels at other places—it didn’t stand out.
Nachos: They felt like an afterthought, resembling something I might throw together at home with some shredded cheese and a microwave.
That said, not everything was a miss. During Oktoberfest, I had the German sausage, and it was excellent! It’s a standout item and, frankly, something that should be on the menu year-round. If they could replicate this level of quality across the menu, the food could become a real draw.
Service and Management: Mixed Experiences
The management team has been approachable at times and fair in their dealings sometimes, which is a positive sign. They’ve been present and willing to engage in conversation, which I appreciate, but they are not happy in their demeanor. However, there are operational issues that can’t be ignored.
The restaurant has been closed at odd times, including weekends, which is particularly concerning given the prime location and potential foot traffic. Regular, consistent hours are key to building trust and repeat customers.
The Atmosphere and Potential
One thing that does work in this restaurant’s favor is its location and the beer selection. The beer is good, and the setting near the hockey rink should make it a go-to spot for fans and families. The problem isn’t the concept—it’s the execution.
The food and overall management need a serious uplift and revision. With better consistency in the kitchen and more robust leadership, this place could thrive. It has all the ingredients for success: location, proximity to a steady customer base, and a concept that should appeal to a wide range of people.
Final Thoughts
Right now, I’m wrestling between a 2- and 3-star rating. The potential is undeniable, but the current execution leaves much to be desired. I’m rooting for this place to succeed because it could be a gem in the community. However, it will require focused effort to address the inconsistencies in the food, streamline operations, and build trust with customers by staying open at predictable times.
If these changes are made, I have no doubt this restaurant could become the success it’s meant to be.
We had a surprise bday party for my husband here last weekend. The loft is a perfect place for a small group, ours was 25. The food was all fresh and tasty and the beer variety provided something for everyone. Employees were all courteous and helpful, in particular Casey was a champ! I can’t imagine how many times she went up and down the stairs. Highly recommend this location! I’m sure we will be returning soon. Everyone in our group was pleased with the venue.
The staff and the beer is excellent.
The place is such a hidden gem! I’m not a beer drinker but they have a nice selection of mid to top shelf liquors. My favorite thing on the menu is their French dip, because that au jus is quite literally drinkable! Their general manager, Lee, is such a personable and professional gentleman. If you’re ever in Pelham or even just passing through please stop and give these kind folks a holler! I promise you won’t regret it :)
The modern interior is spacious and has a good vibe, which was boosted by the chill friendly bartender. The beer menu is great! Between the Pilsner , Stargazer sour, and their Coconut stout I had to slow down! Flatbread has solid as well.
Beer is good, bartender is nice and very skillful!! Drinks are amazing and food is yummy!!
Great beer, nice building, friendly service. The hamburger was very good.
I love OMBC. The staff, the food and they have the best craft beers around.
Fantastic brewery and great food! The beers all have a unique element to them which we really liked! We felt like it was the “Oak Mountain Taste” lol!
Food was also stellar and our server/bartender was so nice. The French dip was incredible- normally when I eat one elsewhere they’re dry without the au jus, but the one here was juicy enough I almost didn’t even use it! The giant pretzel was also super soft and tasty. We loved the Boysenberry sour and the IPA!
We’re only passing through on a trip home, but we’ll definitely be back the next time we pass by.
Always a great selection of beer. I do love the stargazer sour, hubby loves the blonde ale. I'm not a seltzer lover but they make great seltzer, the way it's supposed to be and not to bubbly. Can't go wrong with the French dip sandwich either.

Had 2 quick glasses of Oak Mountain Blond. Very good. We also had a large Bavarian pretzel with queso cheese that was good. All in all a good quick visit to OMBC with my daughter.
Terrific hospitality (thanks Lee!) great vibe, delicious food and my new favorite beer! Bonus... dogs allowed on the patio. 5 stars!
We love this Brewery!!! Excellent food and beers on tap. My daughter left her bag there and the waitress and bartender held on to it for us for a week and we were very thankful!!
Good lunch and great beers. ?You won't be dissapointed.
