Applebee's Grill + Bar

I went to visit the applebees in Phenix City,AL. I will say that it has been the worst experience I have ever had in any restaurant. I am extremely disappointed that your managers or owners it seems like they will hire just anyone. My family and I were met with weird looks and avoidance from everyone on staff. The customers were rude but there is nothing that mangers can do about the type of clients they receive but to have your employees avoid us because of our race. Your manager was only giving us excuses saying that they didn't see us. Multiple employees looked at us and walked by us. I am beyond disappointed in my whole experience and for my child to have experienced that in your establishment is wrong.

My daughters ordered 2 raspberry swirl drinks. They were offered a refill which was presented as free. 1 daughter receives her drink. While waiting for the other the host informs us that refills are not free. Ok, cool just keep the other one & I shouldn’t be charged for misinformation right? NO! His managers states the only way I will not be charged is if the drink my 10 year old is currently drinking is taken off the table. Why? Who made the mistake? Taking it off the table to throw away from a child is really great business. We even received our entree before the appetizer! SMH.

I had grilled chicken with a sauce that was spicy and sweet, with Applewood bacon. It was really good. They were short on servers, so the service was slow. Our server was great, though.

Took awhile to be seated, just myself. The food I ordered took awhile longer than it should have,which finally came but had to ask my waitress for silverware. Ordered Ranch which did not come with my meal so had to ask for that again..I think the servers are beat from working all day and just ready to go home ..My advice dine in earlier to get better service..Wasn't worth $30 with tip..Food was pretty decent though..Still 3 stars but could have been better. Better service at Waffle House @ that hour..9pm-10pm js...out

We were in there yesterday and my Aunt, that is in a wheelchair, began to choke on something. I and another customer got up to help her. I had to do the Heinrich maneuver on her to dislodge the food. Manager did come over but did not offer to help or offer to give her a free meal. We were rushed with the bill and out the door. I feel they should have helped more and be trained to help out instead of being scared. Thank goodness for the gentleman that helped me. He was only there to eat.

It's twice now that I've been greeted at the door from a less than friendly hostess. I thought the first one was having a bad day until I realized that it was more about race than it was anything else. And I am certain of that . The second time different hostess was also less than friendly and actually snarky. That time I'm not sure what the reason was . However my waitress was stellar. Very friendly very attentive and a very nice person. The food was okay. I put four stars for the service because the rude hostess is also part of the service. The waitress was fantastic and made the experience much more pleasant.

This is my review regarding my service received on 23 December 2024. I'm not a frequent customer, so first impressions are lasting impressions. I ordered the Quesa Salad and assumed the dressing came on the side (my fault). When I received the salad, I didn't like the dressing, and my waiter (very understanding) said she would replace it. Here comes the problem. I guess the cook or whomever brought the replacement meal to my table didn't like the fact that I sent back the original salad. He approached with an attitude. I didn't acknowledge his attitude and accepted the salad. The salad does not call for pepper flakes or jalapeños, but to my surprise, that was placed in the replacement salad. It was so spicy, I couldn't eat the salad. I know this was done on purpose, so I did not eat the salad and prepared to leave.. I paid the tab and left, knowing I would never return or ever hold work functions at this location. My tab was $59.19, and I tipped the waitress $15.00 in cash for her service. First impressions are lasting impressions! I spoke with the manager of this establishment and still stand behind my review.
