We came in from a 2 hour concert. It was a little crowded but we were accommodated very well. The food was good and more than enough for us to be satisfied. Catfish was delicious along with everything else.

The buffet has the usual—mashed potatoes, frozen fried okra, mac ‘n cheese. On this particular Sunday, the theme seemed to Thanksgiving. I don’t know if every Sunday is chicken and dressing. There was also ham and roast beef. There were the traditional southern coleslaw, etc. Tea was included in the $15.95 price tag.
The chicken and dressing was fine. They used sage in the cornbread dressing and it was moist. The chicken was moist and flavorful. I’m going to be honest, the mashed potatoes had the texture of instant potatoes. The yams were dessert level sweet.
Speaking of, desserts were what looked like Oreo fluff and banana pudding. I waited for fresh banana pudding and it arrived warm with a lightly toasted meringue. The layers of pudding and cookie and banana were delicious. Reminded me of my grandmother’s.
The dark wood floors and paneling gave the place a dark, gloomy atmosphere. They needed more lighting. Money was stapled to the ceiling—all I could think about was the dust blowing around as the money flapped in the air currents. If you are uncomfortable with religious themes everywhere, this place isn’t for you.
The restroom is a one room affair. The door is warped and drags the floor. It’s next to the drinks station, so the space is very awkward and cramped. The doorknob was greasy—someone didn’t wash their hands or it wasn’t wiped down well during cleaning. And there was a light smell of mold one associates with old buildings.
Servers went around filling drinks and offering general assistance. That was very good.
This isn’t really handicap friendly, despite the ramp to the front door. The ramp grade is fairly steep—I’d hate to help someone in a wheelchair negotiate it. The chairs and tables are very close together and a wheelchair could get to the buffet or really navigate the restroom.
Value for money? I’d say a little below average—and some of that may depend on how much you can eat.

I ordered the green fried tomatoes and they were red. When I brought it to the waitress attention she felt bad for me, but still charged me for them. Brought it to the cashier attention and still the same response. I shouldn’t of been charged for something that was what I ordered.

Third time visiting. Gedneys has very good food, friendly waitresses and a wonderful atmosphere. The owner is a friendly guy and is always walking around greeting guests, making sure they are taken care of. Definitely worth stopping by and checking out.
