Honestly a nice spot with good service but the food is below average. Not sure why this spot has such unrealistic reviews, unless folks enjoy overpaying for very mediocre food, maybe to get out of the house? Dominos' oven baked subs smash any sandwich you'll find here and are cheaper. Bruce's food land loaded potato salad is light years ahead of their version. Their milkshakes are good but severely overpriced. Sonic offers you far more bang for your buck. Not trying to be negative but to each their own. Only leaving an honest assessment. The owner and the staff were all extremely nice and offered a great speedy service. Best I can do is 3 stars but even that is a stretch. Go check it out for yourself.

Wonderful pin-up style place with delicious ice-cream. The owner is a great person - she show us how much our daughter love the ketchup ?

Wanted ice cream and this place looked good it was. Loved the nostalgia in the place says it was oldest soda shop in Alabama 150yrs. The lady's in shop were friendly and willing to tell you about the shops history nice little gem.

GREAT place for the family! We spent a week in Scottsboro visiting and made it to Paynes based on the recommendations of locals. It’s a great little restaurant that makes you step back in time with their 50’s themed atmosphere. The food is excellent and reasonably priced, there are multiple options for delicious ice cream, and the staff is fantastic. Visiting Paynes was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

Very good food at pre resission prices. It was pretty hot inside, but one of the waitresses gave me a fan to cool off with. It's an old resturant that's decorated in a nostalgic retro style. Overall a great place to go.

Fun experience with a throwback to the nostalgic original ice cream parlor. Easy downtown parking. No wait for a table but not a big place either. Outdoor seating is available. One of the oldest ice cream parlors in Alabama.

Nice little place..it was very busy when I arrived. The place was packed but had tables outside to sit and enjoy your meal.. I tried the Ruben sandwich, and that was pretty good..If I'm traveling back through this area again, I will stop again.
