I’m so sad. This place used to be great. I I don’t think I’d been since the ownership changed though. Some of the other things may still be all right but I went at not even 9 on a Saturday and there was hardly anything in the case. I grabbed a few mixed doughnuts that were already in variety boxes and there was no signage that they were old; I thought it was just a new convenience thing and thought that was clever until I got home and not a single one was edible. They were all old/stale/hard. Maybe the fact it was a Saturday morning which should have been busy and the girl up front didn’t even know what they should be priced at (because nothing was written on the boxes) should have been a clue. It wasn’t her fault, she was very sweet. But that she had to ask her boss means they hadn’t been selling. Now I know why. :/ I hope somebody can turn it back around but right now I wouldn’t go here.

Been having their apple fritters for a long time since only ones like them. Nothing in Winchester, TN.

Drove an hour to pickup my order. Took some to a neighbor, brought rest home. Was very disappointed as they were baked way to long & had a strong almost burned taste.

Been a favorite! Sadly disappointed.

Very unpredictable operating hours. This morning the sign says open at 630. 710 and still not open. Don't plan to take donuts to a morning meeting id buying here.

Will be visiting this site soon!!!! My niece was popped multiple times with a towel and asked them to stop as a kid employee and then Was struck in the face and I have pics!!!! Left a welp under her eye and management over looked it cause it was family that was abusing her! Also robbed her of tips that was giving through credit cards charges!!! If I could give less than a star I would!!!

Been going here for years. New owners came a while back and the food changed a little but was still good. But today was my turning point and I won't be back. First of all there is no prices posted anywhere in the store and to my surprise a dozen cream filled donuts is now $33.00! They are good but that's excessive. Second we tried the chicken biscuit and the sausage biscuit. They were in a warmer and no telling for how long. The biscuits were extremely stale and the chicken finger was extremely dry and disgusting. I then got sick immediately after eating it. With the high prices and declining food quality I will no longer be coming here or recommending it to anyone as I have in the past. It used to be worth the 45 minute drive from Huntsville but not anymore.

Buyers Beware!!!
Yesterday we had teacher appreciation/alumni and senior night. I ordered a sheet cake, oversized cupcake and cookies 2 weeks ago. I show up to the bakery to pick up our order at noon and I’m told it’s not ready yet it will be about an hour and they will deliver it for the inconvenience. I explained the games started at 4:00 so we had to have them by 3:00. I was assured it would be! They never showed up! We had approximately 150 people there and no cake! Even worse the owner would not answer my phone calls or text messages. I have never blasted a business but there’s NEVER any excuse to literally ghost your customers!

Absolutely no where near as good as the old owners. I arrived at 6:45(they open at 6) waited over 30 minutes. Did not get part of my order. Lady never got in any hurry, never gave me the rest of my order or even offered money or something in place of what I ordered and she couldn’t find it. The bakers are great but definitely need someone to run the counter that can take orders and box them. I wish the old owners were still there. Definitely not returning after this being the second issue there. Donuts are good if you got an hour to wait and hope you get your items.

Wow!! We were passing through town and saw this bake shop. They have a variety of donuts and cookies, but also started selling sausage rolls and kolaches, which are some of my favorite breakfast items from around the world. Sausage rolls are sooooo good! So glad we stopped by! We love supporting local businesses!

Great food, great service, great staff, but...
I'm new to the area and was looking for a place to get a breakfast sandwich. There were a couple of pictures on Google Maps showing they served some type of breakfast food. But, when I walked in, there were no menus posted, no signs or pictures of what they offer.

I would suggest that if they at least put pictures in the window, they might get more customers coming in for more than just the bakery items. Just a thought.

The Variety Bake shop has been serving delicious treats for more than 60 years. The original owners' special items remain on the menu, and the current owners have added some delicious temptations. You HAVE to see it, smell it taste it to believe
