When you think of Alabama BBQ, Hooks is one of the best. The people who owned and ran Hooks were awesome to work with and our baseball team at Spanish Fort just loved the food. I had the ribs and they were so good that they did not need any sauce. I will come back with our team any time we are in Troy.

Last year we came to Troy with our high school baseball team to play a tournament and we ate at Hooks after a ball game. We have returned this year and the number one request from my baseball team was can we please go to Hooks and eat again. They stayed open late to accommodate our team and served us. Unbelievable food with a smile and tremendous service! I highly recommend if you travel through Troy or live in Troy you need to make Hooks a regular stop!

Best RIBS in the state HANDS DOWN!! We can’t leave the pulled pork, chicken or sides out! If you are ever in TROY… you best stop for the best BBQ meal you will ever eat!! Super nice and attentive staff. Awesome atmosphere as well!! GO GET YA SOME…. YOU WONT BE SORRY!

I place an order over the phone. Asked for two loaded potatoes. Go inside to pick up order and there is only one loaded bake potato. The cashier that was assisting me (young short black girl) was nonchalant and rude about the situation. As soon as I said that I order two instead of one she quickly turns around and order another one without asking me if I wanted to wait for it to be made. So I asked her after she place the order without permission how long it was going be. She said with attitude, “It’s going to be a min, we busy.” So, I told her to cancel the order that she just made because I didn’t ask her to make it and I wasn’t fixing to wait ( I just got off of work). She turns around with attitude again to tell the people in the back not to make the food. She took my payment and then quickly turn around with an attitude (no apology about the order being wrong or anything). I asked her where my receipt was. She responded again with an attitude, “I didn’t ask for one.” I told her you suppose to give one. I have been doing customer service for years and never heard of such a thing. You always suppose to give a receipt or at least ask customer do they want one, she did neither. And to top it off, she wanted to argue about it, getting loud saying, “ No we don’t.” I’m surprise Hook’s has someone like that working in the front. Back in the day, a person could get fired or at least discipline for acting like that to a customer and around other customers. However, she felt very comfortable doing that around management so maybe it’s allowed. I have been there plenty of times and never received service like I experienced tonight. I normally go through the drive thru but it was backed up so I went inside. I don’t want to ever go inside and experience that again. She was very unprofessional and need to learn customer service skills.

We got lucky that our trip to Florida took us through Troy. I have been craving bbq for days. Fast and friendly service with a smile; simple menu (love minimizing my options so I can make a decision fast). We got pork and chicken. The togo containers packed perfectly with side of rice, two sides (cole slaw was yummy), white bread and slice of poundcake. Meat was tender and flavorful. Cannot beat price for the platter. Thanks for awesome experience!

Got the pulled pork loaded potato and it was the driest potato I’ve ever had. You could definitely tell it wasn’t fresh, nor the pulled pork. Definitely a few days old cooked and reheated.

Fantastic BBQ joint! We're new to Alabama and have been twice now. The BBQ is top notch! 3 stars for service was an average, our first visit service was outstanding the second visit... not so much. Maybe it was the different times of day we went. We'll see the next time we're in how it goes. We will definitely be going back and would highly recommend Hooks. My only suggestion would be to add some smoked baked beans as a side to the menu (we didn't see it anyway)... certainly not a deal breaker though.

Best BBQ sauce I’ve ever tasted! And they sell it by the gallon now! This is such a nice “Mom&Pop Shop”! Every time I go in there, the staff is extremely nice and helpful! I have a four year old son and they always go above and beyond by letting him tell them what he wants to eat. They are so patient while he tries to find his words and asks them questions. Such a breath of fresh air in a world that seems to have forgotten what customer service is! And of course, the food is always amazing! 10/10!
