The bartender (Carson - i think) was very friendly and helpful. I was cold and she offered a Coffee drink that warmed me up. I didn't know anyone there but those around me were friendly and struck up conversation. There was a nice, inviting vibe to the place. I didn't feel awkward or out-of-place which was great because I was temporarily lost. In addition - I liked the music.

If you’re looking for a place where the “barmaids” (yes, I said barmaids lol see last review 🙄) actually know how to make a drink instead of just pouring one — this is it. These are true mixologists who go above and beyond every single time. The atmosphere is always welcoming, chill, and just the right mix of laid-back and lively.
The bathrooms? Spotless. The staff? Absolute pros who treat you like family. Alcove isn’t just a bar — it’s a little slice of Tuscaloosa perfection where everybody really does know your name (and your drink order).

Big pinball fan. Unfortunately this place no longer has free play on Wednesday's!! Even though advertising still on web site. Traveling out of town for work was looking forward to night filled pinball. But, show up to no free play with off balanced machines. Get it together people.

Alcove is one of those hidden bars that feels like a well-kept secret among locals—and once you find it, you’ll want to return. Located at 730 22nd Ave, it’s tucked off the more frequented corridors but offers a refreshing alternative to the typical college-bar scene. 
One of its strongest draws is that it’s smoke-free inside, so you can enjoy your drink without the haze and lingering smell.  The interior is cozy but not cramped—after a modest expansion, it now feels more open yet intimate.  The bartenders are quite adept at recommending new beers or letting you sample before committing.  Beer selection is solid: expect a rotating tap list (around a dozen or so) plus a broad array of bottles.

Very welcoming atmosphere. Reminds me of a medieval tavern. The bartender and the gentleman that checked IDs were both kind and talkative. I don't drink alcohol, but the bartender was happy to serve me a soda while I spent time with my friends. They have a nice arcade in the back, and there is well-lit outdoor seating. This place is off the beaten path, so it's a good spot to get away from the undergrad masses.
