I come here often and always have a great experience. The staff is very friendly. The food is delicious. The margaritas are amazing! It is really hard to find more authentic Mexican food in the south, but this place is spot-on. If you are visiting town or if you are a resident of Tuscaloosa, this is a must! Very fun vibe and good music too.

I placed an order from Don Tonos from Crimson 2 go. When the order was delivered there was a missing item. I reached out to Crimson2go and they contacted Don Tonos and they said they were not inclined to send the item because it was indeed in the bag. This frustrates me because the item was clearly not in the bag. I think this is pure poor customer service. I will not order from them again period.

I’ve been here several times. I think they deserve a higher rating than ~4. The restaurant space is not new, not very clean. But their food and service were always very good, much better than many of the fast food Mexican restaurants around.

If you are looking for exceptional tasting Mexican cuisine in Tuscaloosa, then Don Tonos is NOT the place to go. I had chips, salsa, queso and guacamole dip. Also, street tacos and a tamale. The salsa was very bland like it had too much water in it, the tamale was obviously reheated and tough, the tamale sauce was bland. The street tacos were decent except the flour tortilla shell was most likely heated up in a microwave and not in a hot skillet like it's supposed to be. The queso and the guacamole was good, but nothing special. The service was decent and the staff is friendly and the place was clean. The price for my meal was reasonable. The atmosphere is nice. Also worth mentioning is, there is an additional charge if you choose to pay with a credit card (about 4.5 %) Anyway, my overall opinion is, I would eat there again, maybe, if I happen to be in the neighborhood, but I'd definitely not go out of my way just to eat there. All in all, I rate it 2.5 stars out of 5. Not terrible, not great, its just "Ok" In the words of my dear departed grandpa, "it's nothing to write home about!"

Horrible service. Sat for 30 minutes no menu had to go up and grab one. Sat for another 45 minutes before they took our order. Don’t come here unless you have 4 hours to spend at dinner.

They were VERY busy on a Friday night and the service was slow. Overall everyone enjoyed their food and it was CHEAP. We would like to try it on a different day when college kids aren’t crowding the place.

Chips were stale, food was so bland and just horrible. Service was mediocre at best. Happy hour prices on margaritas and beer were good.
