I ordered two cakes here for my mom’s birthday and as always, the strawberry cake was amazing.
But the red velvet cake was horrible!! DO NOT get the red velvet cake from here. It’s gross. It was dry, the coloring was like deep brown, not even close to red, and it tasted very old. It’s not even red velvet. It’s not chocolate either. Honestly, I’m not sure what it is. It really made my mom sad because she loves red velvet cake so much. But thankfully, the strawberry cake saved the day. I wish I would have just bought two strawberry cakes. Lesson learned. Please do not purchase any red velvet cake here if you are looking to have a great birthday experience.

Today I picked out a chocolate birthday cake and paid for it. I had my name written on it. When I got to my party which was 45 minutes away, I opened the box and it was a white cake with someone else’s name written on top of it for their birthday. My wife called and they said my cake was still there and I would have to bring this one back if I wanted a refund.
I also feel bad for the person that this cake is made for because they will also be without their cake.
I would consider this to be terrible customer service. Needless to say they could have credited us the price of the cake since it was not what we paid for.

Whew—Dr. Green, the cake disappointment is real and valid. Here’s a draft of your one-star review, written with clarity, emotion, and accountability for Edgar’s Bakery, that still keeps your voice thoughtful and honest (but unapologetically firm):

⭐ 1-Star Review – Edgar’s Bakery
I genuinely wanted this to be a five-star moment.
Edgar’s Bakery has long been one of my go-to spots when I’m in search of a little joy in the form of cake. So when I walked in and saw a rare treat—yellow cake with chocolate icing, my absolute favorite—I lit up. It’s hardly ever available by the slice when I visit, so I carefully picked between the last two slices and even shared my excitement with the friendly staff behind the counter. “I just hope I’m not disappointed,” I said out loud.
Unfortunately, disappointment is exactly what followed.
When I got home, I let the cake sit out on the counter to come to room temperature—like any cake lover knows, this makes for the best texture. But when I went to enjoy it, I noticed something wrong: the icing was separating from the cake, and it had an oily, glossy film that no fresh cake should have. That kind of separation usually signals age—and not just a day-old slice. It’s the type of thing that happens when cake is kept in a cooler too long and passed off as “fresh.”
This is not the first time this has happened to me. In fact, it’s the second time in the past 30 days. And this time? I just threw the slice away. I didn’t even have the energy to take a photo. That’s how disappointed I was.
For a bakery of this reputation, this should not be a recurring experience. Please do better. Freshness, transparency, and quality matter—especially when cake is more than just dessert. For some of us, it’s celebration. And for me, it was a total letdown.

I bought a cake at Edgar’s in Tuscaloosa and drove to Huntsville with it. Unfortunately I made the mistake of putting something on top of it during the drive and ruined a spot on the top. I brought the cake into the Edgar’s in Huntsville and explained what happened and that I was willing to pay for it to be fixed or pay for another. Patrick helped me and was so incredibly kind about MY mistake. He replaced the cake with a new one, additionally he made sure the writing on the cake was perfect! He brought it out and said it was on him. His kindness and amazing customer service made all the difference!! Thank yall!!

We love Edgar's when we travel to Huntsville. So we were excited to come back here and have lunch.
I enjoyed my turkey sandwich. My husband ordered two eggs over medium, sausage, and fresh fruit. It did not look great at all but he said it tasted okay. When he got to the fruit, the cantaloupe and honeydew tasted rancid. He took it back up and told the lady at the cash register. She said she would let the kitchen know. There was no apology and there was definitely no offer for a substitute side.
I think your people need to work on their customer service.
We will continue to visit the one in Huntsville, but never here again.

Ordered some sweets for family visiting from out of town. Family arrived a day earlier than expected. The Tuscaloosa staff was excellent. They helped get everything together at short notice and I was able to pick up everything that very day. Everything was delicious! Excellent experience. I highly recommend this place.

They ruined my gender reveal and the cake. I just picked it up. The gender was on top of the cake and then one of the employees told me the gender after I made a point when I placed the call and when I was picking it up that I was picking up the cake and I didn’t know what it was so don’t tell me. One of them tried to fix it but the damage is so done. Don’t get surprise cakes from here. They don’t listen.
Delicious cakes, pastries, and bread

We ordered a red velvet cake for our son’s birthday, and do not live in Tuscaloosa but came to visit him. Red velvet is his favorite and the reviews were so good here I was excited to try it. The red velvet was not good and the color and consistency was weird. The frosting was good but the cake was just so disappointing and blah. I don’t know if this is how they’re always made here but it almost seemed like a mistake or something was left out. I appreciate them offering to assist below so I may try them again with another kind of cake in the future.
My daughter’s favorite so it’s a must EVERY celebration!! 🥳
Visiting Tuscaloosa for the day and was looking for someplace different. I was not disappointed. I had the Grown-up Grilled Cheese sandwich with chips and macaroni and cheese. (Yes it was a cheese heavy meal). The sandwich was great. Definitely a 3 napkin sandwich with all that
cheese. Also had the quiche of the day (veggie) with a side salad. It was also very good. Bought some pastries to try later.
Omggg whyyy! I paid $13.50 for a very small sandwich with very little corn- beef on it. I expected wayyy more this place . Very disappointed will not do this again
Stopped in to pick up some thumbprint cookies and sugar cookies for an event right after lunch today.
Also ordered a soft drink. The cookies are so stale and dried out the kids wouldn’t eat them. Just crumbled apart and dried out. They are definitely old.
The staff were pleasant and pointed out they didn’t have ice-hadn’t had any all week!!!
I wish I had tried one of the cookies before I left the shop as I would have asked for a full refund.
Very disappointing. This is the 2nd time the cookies have been old from this location. Won’t be a 3rd. I’ll keep buying them from the Birmingham locations.
