This is absolutely the best Japanese Restaurant in T-Town!! ? I went by a few weeks ago and they are temporarily closed!? I really hope they reopen soon, as they are family. We have been going here for over 30 years! Hopefully they will respond to my comment!

i haven't been here in a while but i remember the lobster being so good. i went with family, and it was nice. the cultural decorations and dim lighting really add to the experience. the servers were all kind and entertaining. great spot for hibachi.

A coworker highly recommended this place. It was not disappointing. However, it was a Tuesday night, and they did not do the hibachi grill. I don't know why, but they said they will cook it in the back and bring it out to us. I did not like that at all. I felt like we didn't get as much food as we normally get when they do hibachi on the grill. I also felt like they just heated up leftovers. Overall, the food was good, so I would like to come back and try it on a different night when there's more volume. Hopefully, they'll actually have a hibachi chef next time.Side note. Also, I'm not sure why, but the server we had would never look me in the eyes. When she was talking to me, she was looking at other people, and I was like, "I didn't know you were talking to me because you're not looking at me." That is very disrespectful.

Tokyo is the best Japanese Steakhouse in Tuscaloosa, and the best Japanese steakhouse I've ever been to. It wins over Hokkaido (who is in 2nd place), due to their great noodles and very strong tasting shrimp sauce (yum yum sauce). I would give Hokkaido a slight edge in the taste of their meats, rice and vegetables, but not enough to oust Tokyo from its place on the thrown of Japanese in Tuscaloosa. Sushi is really good as well at Tokyo (equally good at Hokkaido). The Lee family (the owners) are great. If you go there enough, you will get to know them personally. So to recap, if noodles and very strong tasting shrimp sauce matter to you, it's worth the drive to go to Hillcrest (69 south) in Tuscaloosa, and make Tokyo, your go to place for Japanese food! Each dinner comes with soup, salad, choice of meat, rice, veggies, noodles and shrimp sauce!

the only place with the best shrimp sauce in town. they also have the best ginger salad! while pregnant the ginger sauce I would buy by the cupfuls because it helped so much with nausea. sweet family owned restaurant

Eat here often. Sushi and hibachi is great. Staff is nice and quick. To go or dine it, it's always good!

Service was great. Food not so much. Crab Rangoon was excellent. The rest was very bland. Ordered fried rice. Not! Just steamed rice put on the grill. No vegetables or egg. Just bland rice.
