I have loved sitting down and spending hours at turbo. It was quite possibly the best vibe for studying in Tuscaloosa, but it now looks like Rama Jama's. There are enough places to watch and care about sports in this town. As a regular, I actively cringed as I walked in for the first time after the new owners redecorated (AGAIN). The staff is always lovely, especially Stone and Rhett, but the atmosphere feels icky. I so badly miss being able to buy art from local artists....
I love this place and come here multiple times a week. I loved the new comfy furniture they put in here. But suddenly they have rebranded themselves as a sports bar?
If they want to show the game on Saturdays, I love that for them. Use the space and profit from it! But it appears that they just plan on having full daytime tv (infomercials, the View, sports commenters, etc) on in the meantime. This is no longer the relaxing haven it used to be. The tvs are really distracting...

I'm told the place is under new ownership. I hadn't been there in about a month, but usually go at least once a week. IMHO they've made a terrible blunder with big screen TVs and sports paraphernalia all over. This place was mostly a great student hangout for people who wanted to distance themselves from the Krishna Tide madness. It's totally lost it's vibe and there's not much else in the city that was like the old Turbo. Late stage capitalism? Social...
