I have not tried anything that I was not impressed with! Chicken and dumplings were amazing, and the portions are enough for two!
Got the Thursday Chicken and Dumplings today. So amazing. I barely got into it and was inspired to write this review. Ive had like 3 bites and it was way better than I had expected. So YUM!
My husband and I stopped in on a whim and were so pleasantly surprised by not only the food, but the owner who sat and chatted a bit, even offered a piece of his oven roasted bbq chicken to taste and it was falling off the bone good. We ordered a smothered pork chop dinner and the catfish dinner, both chose fried okra and mashed potatoes with gravy. Should’ve chosen 4 different sides to try it all, because it was all amazing. Soul Food Hut is a small, drive-thru only restaurant serving delicious, homemade food. The fried chicken is crispy, seasoned just right, and cooked perfectly, deserving its own fan club. Other excellent meals include the smothered pork chop dinner, catfish dinner, Thursday Chicken and Dumplings, Meatloaf, and Southern Fried Steak. The oven roasted bbq chicken is falling off the bone good.
Their sides are outstanding. The squash and onions are the best ever, and the fried okra, mashed potatoes with gravy, mac and cheese, and cabbage are all amazing. The farmhouse/cowboy soup is perfect for cold weather, and the Junk pot is also delicious. Each dinner comes with cornbread or homemade rolls.
The food has rich flavor, is packaged perfectly, and is clearly made with care. The service is very friendly. It is a take-out only spot where you drive up to the window, and orders are ready quickly. They often run out of food due to high demand. The place earns five stars for great food and great execution with zero nonsense.
