We love going to Renzoβs when we go to Fayetteville to visit our kids at the university. This is a family owned little Italian restaurant and not a chain, and we love this about it. Weβve eaten there several times and each time we try something new. Their staff is very friendly and we love that itβs close to campus. We had my sonβs graduation dinner there for a large group and everything came out exactly as ordered and in a timely manner. Itβs a plus they take reservations too. Finding a restaurant thatβs not a chain is hard anymore and this one is a hidden gem in the heart of Fayetteville.

I genuinely dislike giving poor reviews, but my meal was terrible. This was my first experience, by the way. I tried the seafood trio (calamari, shrimp, and scallops). The pasta was old and mushy, the scallops were grey and mushy, and the calamari were beyond overcooked. The servers were friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere was peaceful. I simply can't recommend the food to anyone. Hopefully, something changes because people shouldn't spend their hard-earned money on what I purchased.

Honestly really disappointed. I ordered through DoorDash after a 12 hour shift on my feet at 8 months pregnant. I ordered the Farrfalle and mushrooms, with a side order of asparagus. Not sure if this is an issue with DoorDash or the store, but was under the impression that bread would come with it. I did not receive any bread. I got 5 tiny pieces of asparagus. Yes, just 5. And they were tiny. And my pasta was 90% sauce. It was like I was eating soup. After eating all the overcooked mushy pasta out, Iβm left with 3/4 of a container of sauce. It was less then 10 bites of pasta. When I called the store, I was put on hold, while I was mid sentence without the lady asking me to hold so I just sat there and continued to talk thinking I was talking to a person when I i fact was not, and when she finally tuned back in, she told me that there was no manager there but she will have them call me tomorrow. Iβm honestly just disappointed, and still very hungry.
Delicious food and super nice staff!!
Walking into the place, we had high expectations as the 4.4 star review had us excited and the atmosphere was cozy and friendly with a few tables seated and chatty. We ordered the spaghetti and lasagna with minestrone soup, an appetizer of fried ravioli's and a sweet tea and water. I can rank these items in order of "fitness for human consumption" - at the top is the water, followed by the ravioli's (which had ricotta rather than mozarella for some inexplicable reason). my wife reported that the lasagna was "mid" through and through. My spaghetti noodles were overcooked, the sauce was bitter and thick and it was "garnished" with dried / shredded basil that you might find in a container of seasoning from the store. after that it's a bit of a tossup between the minestrone soup which had about as much flavor as watered down lacroix and the sweat tea which had a similar issue despite being freshly made. I think the tea was marginally more fit for consumption than the soup. We left as soon as we could because the food was genuinely horrible to put into our mouths. The bill for this dinner for two came out to $50 and I'm not sure if that's due to inflation in the economy or the restaraunt's idea of how good the food is; chef boyardee is genuinely much better quality at a fraction of the cost. I think their good reputation comes from a clientele that leans more senior and might not be able to taste what they are eating.
The service was friendly but not particularly professional. It was 6pm when we got there and I asked when the sweet tea had last been made - it had been last made in the morning, which I have learned is a red flag for it being nasty so I opted for a soft drink instead. The waitress let me know that a fresh batch was being made which I appreciated and accepted her offer to get the tea instead. I was excited to try the tea because there was a chance it would be a highlight of the visit, but it had no flavor nor was it sweet. When we asked for the ticket it came very quickly but then took an inexplicably long ten minutes to get taken back to be processed.
Took the food home in to go boxes as a cover for wanting to get out as soon as possible and find somewhere with edible food for dinner instead.
Got home and started actually reading the negative reviews and I see that the owner gets a little feisty so before he asks "why did you take the food home if it was that disgusting" I will answer: I did it because I didn't want to offend you by leaving an entire meal for two basically untouched outside of the few bites we took to find out how horrible it was.

I've been a bartender for over 20 years. I've been working at restaurants all my life. I don't think I've ever sat at a bar right next to three employees for over 20 minutes and not one of them say a word. Wow! I understand I was only there to pick up a to-go order but damn me and my wife were going to order dinner from there tonight. Not so sure about that anymore
