down to earth friendly atmosphere. The food is tremendous, and the staff puts everything into making sure you have a great experience.
Making a leisurely trip from Va. Beach to Tulsa, we’re trying to eat local. Pulled off the interstate for gas, and lunch. amidst all the big chain signs was a small ground level sign for Sawmill Cafe and we took a chance. The place was packed with locals. An all you can eat lunch buffet for $14 plus dinks ($16 for dinner). The buffet selection was impressive; however, We ordered off the menu. Ruebens, chips, pickle, drink tax and tip. $26. Food was good, service friendly. The decor and gift shop were authentic down home country.
Very good! Unsuspected but very good

Fried & baked chicken are great!! They have buffet or menu options! Salad bar is good as well.. macaroni salad not so much and greens and black eyed peas are kind of bland but not bad.. definitely a nice place to get some grub! Nice little gift shop as well! Very reasonably priced!

Food good. Waitress service good. Big problem,my group informed management we were coming. What they didn't tell us was that they charge $3. more for groups. At restaurant informed this was for groups, then changed & said was for tip. I prefer to leave tip on table & according to how good the service is.This was a senior citizens group, should get discount instead of up-charge. Needles to say we probably won't be returning. This was for the lunch buffet. One more thing, charged card fee, I paid with cash.

Stopped for breakfast. Did not eat off buffet. Ordered off menu. Scrambled eggs were not good, hash browns tasted like cooked with old oil, grits were not good, pancakes not good. One had western omelet and said it was good. Don’t recommend.
Was excited to see a restaurant thar offered vegetable plates in the area, however became disappointed upon arriving. They did have vegetables, but they were all on a buffet and appeared to be poured out of a can.
Buffet was fantastic! There were so many choices on salad bar and vegetables, I barely got to the entrees. Pea salad and cucumber tomato salad were perfect. I also liked the black eyed peas and stewed okra. Not spiced overly, I like Louisiana on mine anyway. Husband had dessert bar, all the selections were great! Don't miss the hot rolls, they're in a little cabinet by the desserts. Great place to stop while traveling Interstate 40.

We came here for dinner one night on our way past Forrest City AR. We didn’t know anything about the place. We walked in and a server immediately greeted us and informed us that the buffet was mostly seafood. that sounded good so we elected to go with the buffet. That was where our expectations and what we actually got diverted. this seafood buffet had fried fish, baked fish, fried shrimp, boiled shrimp, stuffed crabs, crab salad, boiled crawfish, boiled mussels, fried frog legs, and even oysters on the half shell. I’m sure that I’m forgetting something. on top of all of this seafood, there was bbq, fried chicken, and spaghetti for the seafood intolerant. there was also a fantastic salad bar and a great southern dessert bar. This was a memorable experience and we will stop back in if we’re down this way. Off the chain as they would say on DDD
Everything seem to be well with the exception of paying my ticket. I had to wait on cashier Pat to get off her phone before she would check me out. I still to yet don’t know if she can speak or not. She never said one word to me and I’m not sure but I don’t think she ever looked at me. When she finally checked me out which seemed like forever, I said Thank You, not a word from her. She for sure is not a “people person”. As far as I’m concerned, unless she has legitimate handicap of some kind, I believe she needs to be removed from dealing with the customers or simply fired. It’s your business, not mine.
Sweet down home dinner with a wonderful little gift shop with unique and quality gifts. We had the breakfast buffet. The biscuits & gravy were good- the eggs were ok.
Buffet was delicious. The salad bar was delicious. The bread was delicious and the dessert was delicious especially the ice cream. They kept the buffet fresh always adding fresh food. The service was great. The tea was good not sour wasn’t a bad price. The gift shop has a lot of things.
As I went to walk in, an older woman (the young lady at the cash register called her Grandma) was wiping the door windows, even as I stood to come in. She acted upset that she had to get out of the way to let me come in, no smile, no good evening, welcome or anything. (For the record, it was 7:20pm and it close at 8:00, so I was plenty early. She told me to go in and sit down. I had no idea where “in” was, because I have never been here before. It took a bit, but my server got me started on the buffet. My server was nice, so that started to turn things in the right direction. The food was tasty, but the sides were cold. Luckily the meats section was warm (not hot, but warm). At 7:50, the lady who had met me at the door come up and said “You payin with cash or card?!” I stated I would be using my card, and she rudely said “Give me your card. We need to shut the cash register down.” She took my card and eventually came back with a slip. She then said “put your tip on this and I will run it through” and stood there waiting for me to put a tip on a meal where I had used the buffet. I would have put a tip anyway, but was really uncomfortable as she stood over me waiting like I was holding her up. I was still not done with my dessert yet. She brought the receipt back and I see this place charges you a fee to use your credit card. Never did she say there was a card fee on top of everything else. When I was on my way out, I asked if she was the owner, to which she said no, and that was the first time she said “thank you for coming in”. She probably knew I did mot have a good experience. If you are a road traveler, I would avoid this place.
