Gilbert RV is one of my favorite campgrounds I have visited in the last 10 years. This is definitely not your typical chain campground, location to the Buffalo River is a short walk. My wife and I paddle boarded the river, using the campground as a base camp. Gilberts is a very small town, I believe the population is 17, so there is not a lot to do in town. The campground has all you need, there are no activities through the campground, so things are very quiet there. During our stay we were visited by a town dog, she came and sat with us for over an hour. I initially thought it was one of the owners dog, but when I asked him about the visit, he informed me about the dog. As a dog lover, I thought the visit was awesome. There are also free roam chickens on the property, they were quit amusing to watch and didn't bother us at all. During our stay the owner gave us over 2 dozen fresh eggs, the eggs were delicious! Overall the campground was well kept, the owner was very attentive to my wife and I and generally a great host. I would come back again.

Took my niece camping with her ill mother who’s medical condition gives her 6 months at the most for her first camping trip the owner followed my 9 year old niece to restroom and showers making her feel completely uncomfortable. We did bring firewood from home and did Use one large log which in his rules stated we’d be charged $30 clean up fee. We understood the charge. He then continued to harass us for a 30 minutes to and hour The gentleman then in turn went through my friends truck looking for more wood. He then threatened us with calling the law, park ranger as he placed his hand on his gun at his waist To 4 unarmed campers. He then withheld wood for us to cook a meal for the child and ill camper we decided to break camp and head home. And he did not understand why we leaving and on top of that there was a dog who decides to climb the picnic table and knock off items. And then get into the tent and my niece woke up to having the dog leaning over her in her sleep. And his response was. Well it’s not our dog. Very bad experience not a calm weekend of camping

I am so glad we found this little town and RV park. So friendly. Great place to float the Buffalo River. You can literally walk to the store from your RV and they drop you upriver. You end right at the town, pull your canoe on to the bank and walk back to your RV. So convenient. Such a quaint town and beautiful setting situated in the Ozarks.

We stayed in the cabin over New Years, and the rest of my family stayed in their RV's. Jim was wonderful and caring, always making sure we had everything we needed. The cabin was beautiful and super comfy. Very clean and lots of nice dishes if you choose to cook. We had a wonderful time and will probably go back when the weather isn't so cold. The roosters were fun to hang out with and will even start crowing if you make a similar noise. I would highly recommend! Also, don't forget to check out the little signs around the place, they're really funny.

We've stayed in a lot of campgrounds in various Midwest and Southern states. This is now one of our all-times favs. We really enjoyed chatting with Mr. Jim and interacting with his extremely laidback dog. His office space is a welcoming and fascinating place. Our campsite was tidy, level, and easy to set up. We stayed two mid-week nights in late September, with great weather, and mellow neighbors. We'll definitely be back.

The owner is a downright j**** We had made reservations a few weeks in advance.Believed everything was good. (There was no email confirmation.) We drove about 3 1/2 hours there. Arrived about 8pm. Too bad it was closed! At 5 pm. No one around to talk to, ask what site to set up, no bathroom code, etc. So we picked out an empty site and started setting up our pop up camper. Come to find out, the electricity didn't work on that site. SO we took our pop up down and moved to another site location. Stayed the night there. In the morning, the owner came by and said he cancelled our reservation because we came in too late and didn't give a call back, which was never communicated to us at the start. (None of this info was given to us when we made the reservation) and we HAVE to move because the site we picked was reserved. He told us to move just across the road to another site. Even though the sites were identical, same hookups, etc. BUT NO! WE HAD TO TEAR DOWN AND MOVE 20 FEET. I go in to register and he decides we can't stay there at all. For no other reason except I asked him what's the difference between the two sites. I will NEVER come to this campsite again (we camp all over the midwest and have never had any problems.) The owner is a grouchy j**** We talked to a few other people staying there and they said, 'oh yea, he's a j***** Reminded me of a 'GET OFF MY LAWN TYPE OF MAN.

Me and eight friends that I have known for almost 50 years spent the weekend for the first time at Kelly’s bunkhouse. The amenities were top notch and we can’t wait to come back. You can tell Kelly wants her customers to be comfortable and feel like they have had a great experience when they leave. Kelly, herself, made the experience even better by being so personable and helpful.

Awesome place that can accomodate/sleep up to 24 people. In historic Gilbert and right on the Buffalo River.

Kelly is a great host providing comfortable rooms, full amenities in a beautiful location. Great for paddling trips and a hiker's base camp.
