In Louisiana where I grew up, we didn’t eat “comfort food; we cooked “hurricane food.” Mine is chili with cheese and onions.
Hurricane Francine just made landfall in south Louisiana today. At times like this—gray skies, high humidity—I really miss my mom, who passed in 2022. We shared many bowls of chili on FaceTime through the years.
Today, she’s alive in my memory, and Emileigh, Ky and John welcomed me at the To-Go window with all the enthusiasm of a happy family. Thanks for sharing a moment of grief, a minute of joy and a sincere thank-you for providing a way for us to enjoy good food and also stay safe during this Covid surge.
BTW, the pharmacies near you have the new Covid boosters!

Some of the best country style food! We are from Texas and stopped here for my 30th birthday. Chloe our waitress was very delightful and the manager came around to check on how our service was. Everything was hot and fresh, and fast! Great ?? 10/10
Went to dinner with my family order 16oz sirloin with double loaded mashed potatoes when food came out steak was fully cooked not a hint of pink after ordering it medium, server came back showed her she came with a plate to take steak back I told her just to take the whole plate with the mashed potatoes too with i had already added salt and pepper to them cause I wasn't going sit there and just eat potatoes while my steak got fixed told her I would like fresh ones to come out with my re cooked steak took them over 24mins to bring steak back just to bring it back out with the same mashed potatoes out. Keep in mind family at this point t was finished eating and while the whole process of fixing it I was drinking a beer servers never came back to asked me for refill or no one in my party I will no longer be going to this Hot Springs location cause I guess cooking a steak is rocket science. Regret not taking pictures of the steak... all manager could say is the potatoes where still warm SMH

This Texas Roadhouse is one of the best in terms of service I’ve ever been to. Our waiter Ivan was attentive and one step ahead. He came to check on us often and always made sure we had fresh drinks and rolls. A manager asked how we were halfway through our visit. The food came out quickly and was hot and fresh (and delicious) with more than generous proportions. Just watching the efficiency of the people working was cool, they seem to have really cracked the code.
