Ok, so we normally eat here during the holiday event, but this was our first time trying the regular menu. The chicken fried steak was the best I've had in absolutely forever. Crispy, juicy, and the gravy was fantastic. Definitely stop in if you're craving some amazing home cooking.
We went to Washington state park in SW Arkansas for a day trip. We noticed the Tavern across the street from the Visitor Center. So, after a long morning of touring old homestead, we stopped in for a late lunch. And earlier couple had said to get the Chicken Fried steak, and so we did. we shared it along with fried Squash and mashed potatoes with gravy. Maria brought us jalapeno, cornbread to have with our meal and it was good. But for me, the best part was the chicken fried...
This is an Arkansas state park run restaurant. The cook here is an excellent cook. I cannot brag upon her enough. And our waitress was really friendly and courteous and on top of serving us.
We had the special for the day. Which was chicken and dressing sweet potatoes and corn. And they also brought out the most fantastic tasting dinner rolls and cornbread
