Delicious family owned restaurant. They were busier than usual but we still very friendly and the service was quick! Definitely will come back!
This restaurant was recommended to me by a salesperson in Dillards in the Scottsdale Fashion Mall. I took her word for it because she was from NJ and should know what a good pizza tastes like. Oh well. To each his own, I suppose. As soon as the very nice waitress put my sausage and mushroom pizza down on the rack on my table I thought I smelled stinky socks! EEeeeuuuuw! It was the sliced sausage! I should have known that the first time you order tomato pie in an unknown pizzeria, you should order plain pizza with no additional toppings so you can get a feel for the quality of the mozzarella and tomatoes and crust. The only part of the tomato pie that I thought was very good was the crust. I should have gone to La Piazza from DDD like I wanted to....oh, well. Never coming back to La Famiglia.
BEST baked Lasagna I've had in 20-30 years.. YUM (and I don't write reviews that dictate how much I 'have' to say.. (ex. 100 characters)
I have been to the previous location and was never disappointed.. Not a place for holding a business.
We were promptly greeted and seated in our choice of booth. The table was available, but the remainders filled over the time of our visit. We ordered a bottle of wine - moderately priced while we perused the menu. We weren't here for Pizza which looked good on other tables. The wine was opened at the bar, glasses poured and presented with two filled glasses and the bottle. Then a long while passed. Finally, the waiter showed up with bread and took our order. My hint would be, bread and wine go together perfectly and should be served together. A nice plate of EVOO and balsamic was also delivered. I had Veal French and wife had a chicken masala dish. My veal was very tender and lemony. Lots of mushrooms too. Wife said her sauce was a bit bland and it was. We both had tortellini which was plentiful, but a bit overcooked. The staff was attentive and courteous.
I have eaten here a lot, at least a half dozen times a year. I meet other friends here for lunch and they have great lunch specials, a lot of food for a great price. I recommend the Stromboli - hmmmmmmmmmm good.
After reading some great reviews, and a few negatives in between, the great reviews won me over. I'm so glad they did. We had the "must have" garlic knots for appetizers and YES they are a must have. Their marinara sauce my whole family would have loved unending bowls with spoons, it was really that good. Onto our main dishes. I had the eggplant Parmesan, made just the way it should be. The eggplant was tender, the breading not too heavy and not too light. Crisped to perfection. My husband had the sausage and garlic calzone and was a very happy camper. Our daughter had the 1/2 portion of Fettuccine noodles with butter and basil sauce and she absolutely loved it. We can't wait to try their pizza! This may have been our 1st time here but certainly not our last.
After searching for good pizza in Arizona I had all but given up when my daughter found this family owned gem. Usually hard to find veal on a menu, it is fresh and delicious. Staff is exceptional whether picking up or dining in the restaurant. Think they must have moved because now located on Guadalupe Rd in Mesa. Alcohol available with your meal.
Going out to lunch with my friend for her birthday. Went to La Familia Pizza & Pasta at 1859 W Guadalupe Rd in Mesa. Not sure if this is related to the Chandler name, but the previous Italian Restaurant that was here was very good. When we walked in did not see anyone, and was over-whelmed by a smell of grime and bleach. I hoped it would pass while we waited for someone to come out of the back and seat us. She brought us the lunch menu and two waters with lemon. The menus felt dirty, and the lemons looked like they had not been washed. Very limited menu, pizza slices, calzones and a couple other things. My friend asked to see the dinner menu, she wanted to see if there was more of a selection for dinner. Food was very cheap, but not the kind of food I wanted to eat to celebrate my friend's birthday. The offerings were more like something that teenagers on a limited budget might be happy with eating. It didn't take much to convince my friend to go elsewhere. I put a $1 down for the server that brought us the water and we went to Rigatony's.
Had pizza salad and drinks with family to celebrate a birthday. As always the food was very good and the staff is always very friendly and treat you like family. Great family restaurant with excellent Italian food. Restaurant is now located on Guadalupe Rd. Just east of Dobson in Mesa, Az.

My husband and I stopped here for dinner on the way home from an exhausting work day. The relaxed, friendly atmosphere with attentive wait staff was just what we needed to start unwinding from a difficult day. The food was delicious. I had the eggplant parmigiana entree and my husband had the spaghetti and meatballs as his selection from the "pasta night" special. He also ordered a salad, which he said was fresh. Everything tasted "just right," giving the impression it had been prepared by people who had perfected the recipe over time--just what you'd expect from a family business. This was the second time we've eaten here since their move from a location further south in Chandler. This space is much more comfortable for eating dinner out.
So we tried this restaurant today for a late lunch. We loved the greek salad. We liked the stromboli so much we ordered some to take home for dinner. Today was their two year anniversary and they had rum soaked cannelloni cake that was good too! Overall we liked the food and the drink choices and we will be back!
Our neighbor from Joisy told us to get the Grandma Pizza, as good as any in the City. She was right, ya gotta try it!
Ate five times here with different friends and family, We all got the runs. We think it was dirty or soapy glasses from bar. Because we all drank but ate different menu items . The pizza I like, the food I had better. Much better!!! The appetizers are pre frozen out of a box. Nothing homemade about this place. My clients were not impress with service or servers. Owner walking around with glass in her hand looking angry, tired and irritable. The salad was ok. Not a friendly place. Severs are to busy serving owners dinner table out in dinning area. U get ur order taken food brought and Bill lot later. No refills no warm food, no bread no one will look at you or hear you say excuse me or could we please . Nothing. Save your time and money.
Generous portions and good food. A group of us from The Attic, a nearby business, usually eat here. We are never disappointed. The food is delicious.
