The food was mediocre. The cook was very new and wasn't very experienced. The food was over cook and over seasoned. Not ur traditional hibachi that's for sure. The sushi was ok but not the kind of experience I was expecting for the price we paid.
We had the hibachi/teppanyaki. Food was barely edible due to far too much salt at the grill. Also would be better with less black pepper, which isn't even a traditional Japanese ingredient. Server, and chef were especially friendly and attentive; they were feeling more talkative than we were.
We were a little worried when we showed up and realized the restaurant was attached to the Double Tree hotel but the food was delicious!
Waited 45 minutes for my sons birthday ice cream, salmon skin roll was falling apart when tried to eat , other than that, everything was fine.
So much fun to watch. The food was awesome. I recommend this highly, we had our whole family from ages 8 and up and everyone loved the food.
Such a great experience. First time going to Flagstaff and Sakura was a great dinner choice! Chris was our chef and he was amazing! Our waitress was a doll and overall food was soooo good!
Service was a little slow to get seated and then again after the soup and salad, but the wait was rewarded with very good food.
Our teppan chef (if that's what it's called) lol was SO AWESOME! He was so personable and polite! It was an amazing dinner. Went with some family and friends to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday! She had an absolute blast! The dinner was so good. The chef was funny too! Our server (who brought the drinks and stuff) was a little bit inattentive but it was ok because the chef was filling our time with fun. Food was incredible! My daughter's boyfriend caught a YOLK in his mouth hahahahahaha!
The food was ok, but overpriced and lacking flavor. The garlic edamame was just fresh garlic grated over unsalted lukewarm edamame, didn't add much flavor. We ordered a few sushi rolls. My daughter said City Market sushi is better, so that pretty much says everything. We also ordered a hibachi steak and scallops, there was a a lot of butter and not much other flavor. It was disappointing.
Food wise. The best we have had in a long time. It is a nice, clean and enjoyable restaurant. The chef was pretty good. Not the best I’ve seen but very personable and did a great job. The options are fun and different from the normal. I’d come back again for sure. Prices are a little too high in my opinion but it’s a good experience and they did it well.

So disappointing for the price. Food is good but except the young lady who cooked in front of us, service is à shame....especally when you arrive....

I will not return after having a dinner for two and then getting surprised with a gratuity. Gratuity is for large parties not two people. Pay your staff. Before you respond saying there is a sign stating gratuity, it was not out when we arrived.

Dined here last Friday, and I'm editing my review because of it. Looked this up, and a gratuity of 18% is added to parties of 6 or more. We were only two people. We both ordered the filets and lobsters, and the volcano roll. In cash we tipped our chef $30, the waitress (an additional) $20, and the sushi bar another $20. When the waitress said there was an 18% gratuity added to our bill, I assumed it was just a new Flagstaff thing (like the service charge at many restaurants). No, turns out she added it to our bill, probably because she assumed we would not tip. Had we realized this, we would have only tipped the chef and sushi bar. I have to assume she thought this because we were two women, since that doesn't happen when I go there with my husband.
Definitely don't go to this restaurant unless you are with a man, or they will add the gratuity, even though they should not. How terribly insulting. I won't be recommending this restaurant anymore, and will go to Teppan Fuji instead.

Overpriced, Understaffed, and Underwhelming.
If you want good sushi, go to Lotus Lounge instead.
If you really want Teppanyaki, unfortunately this is your only option in a 1-hour radius.
I left the restaurant feeling disappointed. While our waitress was pleasant and attentive, she mistakenly entered two of our teppanyaki orders incorrectly. Given that we were the first table seated after opening, I can attribute this to an early start.
The salmon sashimi with onions and capers was underwhelming and somewhat slimy—certainly not what I would expect from sushi-grade salmon.
We were uncomfortably crammed into a corner, seated elbow-to-elbow with another group, despite plenty of available space and many open teppanyaki tables. I’m all for sharing a table with another party at teppanyaki, but this arrangement was unnecessary.
Additionally, an automatic 18% gratuity for our party of five wasn’t posted anywhere and was only visible on the receipt as a line item. Establishments should make it clearer when a tip has already been added to avoid accidental double-tipping.⬤
Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, a ramp is available with automatic doors.

I was on the fence with some of these reviews and the fact it’s located in a Hilton Hotel, but so glad we decided to give them a chance. Service was great. We ordered quite a bit of food including regular and spicy edamame, sashimi, three rolls, sushi tower, cucumber and seaweed salad. Everything came out at decent times allowing us to finish certain things with no rush. Our server was fun and friendly. Beer glasses were chilled which is great as well. My favorite of the night was the snake roll, but everything was delicious. Can’t go wrong especially if you’re tired and don’t want
To venture out to find somewhere else to eat and good news it’s open fairly late.
