Taverna Modern Mediterranean

Nice moderately upscale and reasonably priced restaurant. Although busy, when we arrived a little early were seated immediately and server available for drink orders and menu questions. One of our four orders was somewhat overcooked (chicken parm) but generally good quality and flavorful.

Great place at a great price! We were looking for something casual but with good food. This was both!!

We had superior service. It was relatively slow for lunch but the food was excellent. Great falafel and the pita was some of the best I've had. Our server was attentive but not intrusive. If you enjoy true Greek fare, this place is for you.

Staff are polite, friendly, and consistently attentive

The food and drinks were all amazing! The Greek fries and calamari were so good, we were all fighting for the crumbs! The souvlaki and the Harisa Honey Salmon were so good we all kept the plates moving around the table so we all could share.

We always come here on our road trip from California headed East. The food is always very tasty. Their lamb chops are perfectly cooked. The hummus made-in-house is very fresh. Highly recommend!

My son and I were out shopping and got hungry, we chose Taverna for dinner and were very happy with our choice. We were greeted by the kindest host named Caleb, who was very warm and personable. My son (15) is a fairly picky eater but likes spicy foods so he ordered the spicy penne. A couple bites in he stopped eating. He admitted he just wasn’t enjoying it. I tried it and it tasted fine but I cannot eat spicy foods. Mostly out of curiosity I asked the waitress what their policy is if someone isn’t that pleased with their order. The waitress , Maddie, was really attentive and completely understanding. I told my son, that’s what good customer service is, it doesn’t hurt to let them know and if they’re good, that’s how they respond. Also a manager named Sam came out to check on us. They were all very kind and helpful. The service was top notch. When I return I will order the souvlaki or the gyro. The spanakopita was great! Don’t miss the cheesecake and baklava. Also I have enjoyed the flaming cheese in the past.

What a pleasant surprise on the way home!
We looked for a place to grab a quick and not too heavy lunch and found the Tavern. Great services and very tasty food!
We took a variety from Pizza, pasta, salad, shawarma, peri peri and souvlaki and every dish was very good!

What use to be one of the best happy hours and food in Flag, it is now subpar Mediterranean food. The food quality is poor and my wife's bowl had rice that tasted like chemicals. Instead of comping anything they just remade another dish but we were done with our meal and my wife ate at home. Why spend money here when the experience is lacking. We will not go back here again.

I found this place while looking for restaurants near NAU that take reservations because we were in town for NAU's Family Weekend and I knew everything would be busy. It turned out to be a great find. Service was good other than a couple of hiccups with the wrong beer and one meal being well behind tbe others but it was very busy so that's understandable. The food was outstanding and we'll definitely plan to visit again when we're back in town.

We enjoyed all of our food and our hostess and server were both awesome. I have celiac and need to eat gluten free and our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful with what I could eat on the menu with modifications. He was just a real joy, I truly appreciate good customer service and he provided just that (I'm horrible with names I think it was Bryce, something similar.) Thank you!
