Almost dead inside. Service was quite lacking. Very very overpriced for a marginal environment. The food was good and prepared to order. We don't need to go back. We expected much more than what we found here.
We came in for the first time to experience the restaurant week menu selection. Party of 3 we had reservations at the bar. The service was quick considering the chefs hand the food directly over. The food was AMAZING, such a great way to be introduced to this establishment, we will definitely be returning!
We sat at the sushi bar. The sushi was phenomenal. The chef, Tack, took so much pride in the food he was serving. He recommended some rolls that were delicious and was fun to talk to. The overall experience was fantastic.
From the interior decor to the plating of every dish it was so meticulously thought about. Food was outstanding and fresh. Cocktails super high level including their sake and whiskey. Can't wait to go back!
Love this place other than the seating. Wish they had a more cozy vibe such as booths and more private table/chair situations. To me if feels like a high end restaurant mixed with a cafe type seating vibe. Great food, drinks, and service otherwise.
Pleasantly surprised, attended for restaurant week and the food was amazing. Best sushi in the area. Shout out to Ky for great service and a very descriptive menu knowledge. We found our new sushi spot.
We decided to try this new branch of this wonderful Japanese restaurant, now that they have opened in Gilbert. We were not disappointed. Everything was wonderful. We highly recommend this restaurant.
We had a bad overall experience. The sun was shining directly in my face for the table we were at and was so blinding I could not even look up to talk to waiter or my wife and daughter. The waiter started going over every detail of drinks and we don't even drink. The waiter would go over food items in way too much detail, that would be great except he would not even stick around to see if we had any question. The food was really overpriced compared to quality. We had the spare ribs and they were mostly fat and the meat that was a there was overcooked and very dry. We also had the BBQ flight of the wagyu beef. This too was very disappointing. I know A5 has a very high fat content and marbling but the pieces we had were straight fat. I wanted to like this place so bad but between the overbearing waiter who did not care about our experience and the poor food quality for the price, unfortunately I do not think we will be back.
Excellent, we've been 10 times. Different meal every time. Outstanding every time. Have had high end sushi in LA, Seattle, San Francisco, NYC, Chicago. Shimogamo is up there with the best sushi I've ever had
We had a reservation at 8 PM and they didn't have a table for us when we walked in right on time and not a minute later. We waited until 8:20 before asking for another seating option just to eat before closing... not sure what happened but if you have a reservation you should have a table. Staff was very kind in any case and the environment was really cool but I ordered crab bites and they were so busy I didn't get them in time before my fiancé finished his meal so I asked to box them to-go and wasn't as good by the time I got home. Positives and negatives but overall, it was good.

Probably the best sushi experience I've had in the East Valley. Staff is super attentive. The food has so many different flavor profiles. We've been impressed with everything we've tried.
This was our first experience and we absolutely loved it. The food was amazing, fresh, and so flavorful. We tried a variety: miso, rolls and skewers. The service was very professional, helpful and fast. We will definitely go again!
Sushi rolls are fresh, quality is what you would expect from an establishment like this. Service was good, water was always refilled but waiter lacked any enthusiasm or personality. Cheesecake and matcha dessert I would not recommend. Cheesecake flavor was equivalent if not worse than one from frozen food section. Coating an item with matcha powder with red bean wasn't a match up to get excited about.
We had a great experience at Shimogamo in Gilbert! The last time we went, everything was wonderful except for the service. I think they've revamped their service style and it is now extremely efficient and personable. Amazing food, ambiance, and location. Highly recommend.
We were looking forward to dining here after good reviews about their Chandler location. We went in for lunch and dined off a set menu. It took almost 1 hour to get our lunches. We watched other diners get their food while we just waited and told ours would be next; it wasn't. Our miso soup was lukewarm at best. So were the apologies from the Manager. We were celebrating a birthday and the best they offered to do, after the horrible service, was put a candle in any dessert we paid for. While the food was good, the service was clearly lacking. When I told the manager we would not be returning, he said “ok.” It was a bizarre and unprofessional response. He was young and perhaps hasn't learned yet about customer service. I would not recommend this location.
