Authentic Japanese restaurant. Lived in Redmond, WA for twelve years and worked for a Japanese company. Shimogamo is as good as any Japanese restaurant I've eaten in, whether it be the Pacific NW or Japan. Excellent food and service.

Our server was the sweetest, the only downside was we waited a bit over 40-50 min for our food once ordering and the tables are really close to one another so you can hear the other tables conversation. Overall it is aesthetically pleasing the drinks are so savory and cute for a date night

Omakase was delicious and carefully constructed. While the server was sweet, more attention could've been given as we had 4 stacks of plates during our 14 courses.

Sat at sushi bar and thoroughly enjoyed my miso soup And sashimi. Those fatty selections on special menu are truly mouthwatering.

Quality food but way overpriced. We had 2 orders of Nigiri, 5 pc. Assorted Yakitori Skewers and a Crazy Roll. Cost us $130!

We've heard nothing but good things about Shimogamo, but we were very disappointed with our experience. We arrive a few minutes before our reservation, and the ambiance inside reminded us of Chipotle. I assume they were out of tables inside, even though we had a reservation because the hostess asked if we wanted to sit at the counter, or outside. We chose outside, as we didn't want the counter, our reservation was specific for a table anyways. The hostess sat us with no greeting other than a simple enjoy, other tables were asked if it was their first time and had the menus explained to them. Which is when we realized we didn't have a drink menu. It was at least 5-10 minutes before our waiter finally came by, and he exchanged empty glasses on the table with filled glasses of water, which seemed odd. We asked for a drink menu and a second food menu, which he replied they have a menu online or he could get another paper menu. I asked for the paper menu. Several minutes later he dropped off a drink menu as he passed by, no food menu. After several more minutes he stopped by again, and I asked again for the food menu which he then brought out. He took our drink order and we ordered a crispy rice appetizer. At least 10 minutes later he brought out the drinks, a sake flight and a beer, he did explain the flight. At the same time the appetizer was brought out. The flight was a very small amount of sake. We finished the appetizer, which was the only good thing we experienced, it tasted great. Then the flight was finished. Other staff had taken the plate and we sat with an empty table and one of us with an empty drink for long enough to decide to go elsewhere. Again it took a long time for the waiter to come by then when my card was run at the table the waiter left us with the device to finish paying, which I selected to have a receipt printed, but of course since he left we didn't get it. This was for a 40th birthday dinner, and left us very disappointed.

Thank you for an amazing experience! My date and I had an amazing time there and to our sushi chef behind the counter was absolutely amazing!!! We'll definitely return again. Thank you

A great offering of savory sushi made with quite a few fishes you don't normally see in your sushi. Service was elegant and prompt with answers to your questions and lots of information about the food.

Christina made our visit outstanding! My husband isn't a big sushi fan but she navigated us perfectly. We will be back soon!

We love Shimogamo for a celebration dinner or nice date night!! Did the omakase for an anniversary dinner and was in heaven. Great quality food & upscale modern atomisphere!

My brother mentioned that this was the best sushi he's ever had. I would have to disagree. Though it was fresh sushi, it definitely was not worth the price. I've had much more unique rolls and can get double the food for half the price. My dad enjoyed the sashimi though! They did have good service, Info have to admit. If you have money to throw away, go for it. But personally, I wouldn't come here again. Way too expensive for the quality of the food.

I’ve given this location three chances before leaving a review, and honestly, it’s the Wish.com version of Shimagamo Chandler. It doesn’t live up to the name.

Shimagamo Chandler is a true five-star experience — exceptional food, service, and atmosphere. This location, unfortunately, feels like a one-star imitation in comparison.

Shimogamo is the best sushi in the Phoenix Valley! They fly their fish in fresh twice a week from Japan and even buy whole Bluefin Tuna. Their O Toro is outstanding! I highly recommend them and they have a location in Gilbert and one in Chandler.

I've been to the Chandler location several times with my wife. I was always impressed. I finally got a chance to go to the Gilbert location, And it was every bit as good. I ordered a couple different rolls, several pieces of sashimi and nigiri and it was all fresh and delicious. My server Kyle recommended a delicious Japanese whiskey to go with the meal, and it was fantastic as well. There was another server named Kai that brought out several dishes, and his excitement for the food was contagious. I'll be back.

Just had dinner there and some of these reviews blow my mind. If you're looking for California rolls, sure you can find something comparable for cheaper. If you want to try high quality sushi and authentic Japanese food with a modern twist, this place is absolutely top knotch.
