Staff helped explain the menu and top suggestions as we were dinning in for the first time. Clean. Food was served hot. Great wine. Celebration of two birthdays and each received a dessert. Will return, enjoyable evening.
As somebody from the East Coast, I never have high expectations of Italian food in the valley, however, Vitos came highly recommended from a couple sitting next to us at another restaurant that seemed like they knew what was going on. We were greeted by friendly people when we checked in and were seated within 10 minutes. The waitress was good initially, but pulled a disappearing act shortly after we ordered. The coconut shrimp was mushy on the inside and tasted frozen. The garlic knots were OK, but I prefer them a little doughy. I ordered the margarita pizza which was covered in basil that looked like it had been added onto the top as an afterthought and the crust resembled a cheap frozen pizza. I ate two small pieces and threw the rest in the trash when I got home. My husband made his own pizza with the Alfredo sauce, Mozzarella and chicken and he did enjoy that. I’ll stick with Mexican food.

When I arrived during lunch time there was only one table occupied. So not busy at all. I kept it simple and got a regular pepperoni pizza TO GO. I didn't specify any type of crust so I wasn't sure what to expect. It came out thin crust and ready in under 10 minutes. In my opinion it was made perfectly and tasted delicious. But I'm also a fan of thin crust. The lady who checked me out was pleasant as well. I would definitely return.

Vito’s does have good food. These days, restaurants need to have good food and also provide a good customer experience. A key ingredient in a good customer experience is being treated with respect. Disrespect was our experience with the general manager. He was called out to our table by our waiter to discuss an issue in which we found him to be disrespectful and argumentative. The waiter couldn’t care less whether we had a good experience or not as we also mentioned to him it was my wife’s birthday. We didn’t expect special treatment at all, but we only mentioned it because the experience had gotten to be so horrible. There are Gilbert restaurants that strive to provide a good customer experience starting at the top. Obviously, that doesn’t start at the top at this Gilbert location. Amazingly, our first few visits there, we never saw this manager in the restaurant. The server in question waited on us two other times in which we tipped him 25% in hopes he would change his attitude towards us. That didn’t matter as he informed us he doesn’t even remember us. Our visits were not that far apart. I only write this because the conflict started with our request for a customized item which was allowed each prior visit delivered with a smile. The manager was sent to our table to TELL us the order will not be met. He wanted to know who had served us in the past so he could correct the error of their ways. As he said he has the final say so and half sausage and half pepperoni will not happen on his watch. That’s a longer story. No restaurant is perfect. Not even close. Mistakes will be made, exceptions will or will not be made, but a bad attitude will destroy a customer experience or as in our case a birthday dinner. We will not be missed by this restaurant but I write this to help you prepare if you need to speak with the manager or you have a server with an “I rather not wait on you attitude”. We are very fortunate with so many really good restaurants to choose from in Gilbert, Chandler, Queen Creek, Mesa and Scottsdale. Thank goodness we do!

I’m from out of town and I ordered the chicken Marsala to go. There was hardly any Marsala sauce or mushrooms on the chicken or spaghetti. The chicken was dry with very little taste and was chewy like rubber. Not a great meal on the road
Food was just ok. Cesar salad average. Bread was a non event and entree ok. We were in there like sardines. Pizza came 5-10 minutes before entrees

We went for a late lunch and sat in the bar area. As always, the staff is friendly and accommodating. The pizza is done in the tradition Chicago style square cut thin crust.
