All about the money
Macayo's has gone downhill the last few years. I ordered the mini chimmy's and they came out cold in the middle so you know they're reheated. And I'm okay with that. Cuz they're still decent. But the one man we got, we asked if he could take the child's dish off and he said it was already sent to the kitchen. Mind you it was only 30 seconds later. I don't know why that bothered me I guess it was the way he said it. I understand it was sent to the kitchen already electronically but just said a common courtesy you could answer nicely or go check. We literally just placed the order. But the place inside has always been cozy. There's plenty of seating for large groups and usually not too crowd.

Stale chips, hard tortillas, different size tortillas and we're eating the same fajitas. Music was swing dance when we first arrived, then it was techno, and now it's Irish music. Service was okay except she didn't check on us asking us and my husband was out of water for a long time. The beans look like they've been sitting all day in the guacamole was not fresh. We haven't eaten here in a long time and thought why don't we eat here? And now we know why.
I thought the smell of urine was coming from the bathroom but when we sat down it stayed the same. Maybe they are using the mop in the restroom and dinning area is my guess but it was hard to sit here and enjoy my food. The longer you sit the more unbearable it is to breath in deep like poor workers i know they smell it too. No one should be working in the smell. The restroom was worse. You felt more dirty after walking out. Please deep clean and sanitize this place!!!!

A Saturday night, and I thought maybe the place was closed because the parking lot was empty. They were open, but the place was practically empty. We’ve been to Macayos many times and I have always enjoyed the food. Our hostess seated us in the bar area which was fine. It took forever to get our food. There was no bartender for much of the time we were in there. They got my wife’s order wrong- which meant more waiting. It definitely seemed like they were understaffed. This seems to be not uncommon for many restaurants and it’s a shame if this lack of management dooms a historic place like Macayo’s.

We stopped in for a quick bite after some holiday shopping. The restaurant wasn’t busy, and we sat at a table in the bar area. The food was really good, but the service was lacking. It took quite a while for a server to come by when we needed additional items, and with how slow it was, service really should have been impeccable. Several servers were milling around, clearly not busy.
Additionally, this location appears to have shut down the middle room with the stargazing ceiling, using it instead for staff to roll silverware and handle end-of-night duties. This room has a lot of visual appeal and should be utilized for seating. Instead, it looks unprofessional to have staff members visibly rolling silverware, handling end-of-night tasks, beverage cups left out, and even taking meal breaks in a space that is fully visible to guests. This creates an uninviting and poorly managed impression.

Used Uber Eats for Delivery. We really enjoyed the Burritos, Queso, Tamale Bites and Tostadas. The chips were homemade, hot and fresh. Good value for Good Mexican.
As always the food was really good. The service was great. We came in for a pickup order and 2 different staff members asked what we were there for. As soon as we told them the went to the kitchen to see if it was complete. 10 mins of waiting and the food was hot and fresh. Everything was exactly as ordered. I have been coming to this Macayo's for 20 years If I can remember correctly. I dont think I have ever had a true bad experience. If you have never been here you need to give it a chance.

The walk up to the front doors smells of sewer, the bathrooms are just nasty dirty and smell like sewer. The floors and walls are filthy. Praying the kitchen is clean and sanitary. Could use a visit from the owners for sure. Food was good.

Made us wait with tons of empty tables. Our server Jose was horrible! Seemed angry and just stared at us when we were trying to help. He only spoke to us twice, once was when he took our order. No offer of refill, dessert or even check! Had to go to counter to pay and hostess wasn’t any better! Thanks for ruining our Sunday!
