I've been here twice now. While the cod was ok it's really small for what you pay for. There are several places in Phoenix that offer ayce fresh cod for the same price! I just couldn't eat the fried clams. Too tough and chewy even made a second time. It is really difficult to cook them correctly if frozen. I had a sample of the clam chowder. I appreciate that because I would definitely had sent it back. It has the consistency of pudding! Definitely not New England chowder. This consistency can only be from flour. They have huge oysters. Pacific oysters. Bigger is not always better. The cole slaw was so dry I also didn't eat it. I won't be back. Lucky for me too because the response from the owner is less than desirable with the lower reviews. Not sure how this place has over 4 stars 🤔

Nice decor and friendly staff. We ordered the two-piece Icelandic cod with fries and coleslaw. The fish was perfectly cooked and the breading was crisp and light. However, there was no seasoning, at all, on the fish or batter leaving our tastebuds wanting. We did finish the fish but it was not a pleasurable eating experience. We alternated (then tried all 3 together) adding salt, vinegar and tartar sauce to bring up the flavor, yet still our taste buds were not pleased, but we were hungry. The fries were great, the cole slaw fairly one-note we left it after one bite. They offered us a sample of their clam chowder; it smelled and tasted wonderful but was a coagulated mess that went beyond even a gravey texture (maybe cold gravey?); it didn't resemble chowder at all. Overall, a dissapointing eating experience.
With just a bit of salt and pepper on the fish and in the batter before frying and adding water (or milk) to the chowder, these items could really shine.

I've been wanting to try this place for a minute. First time. I'm not a fish person, but am learning to like it. I go in and order a 2pc cod Fish'n'Chips and a side of hush puppies. The order came pretty quickly, within 10 minutes or so. While waiting I saw a lot of offerings for people to grab on their own. Ketchup, mayo, heinz malt Vinegar, lots of options it was nice. I did overhear that they were running out of Okra and something else that night. But I can only suspect it's because they're busy. And they were. People were waiting on orders to go and a fair crowd was dining in despite the place closing in an hour or so.
Food: I loved it. I've been craving fish'n'chips since I had it in Miami, a year and half ago. I doused my Fish in fresh lemon and the provided Heinz Malt Vinegar. It was devine and crispy. As a not fish person I got to enjoy the entreé completely. The 'chips' felt pretty strandard as far as fries go. They reminded me or Jack in the Box, but with a little bit extra life. That's not a knock at all. Then the Hush Puppies, boy do I miss the days of Long John Silvers. Crispy and complimenting. It's good to have all these things available within a 10 minute drive.
My verdict is this place is absolutely worth trying. It's kitchy for sure, like a real life Krusty Krab, but delicious. I really want to get their in-house clam chowder in a bread bowl. They do seem busy and possibly understaffed, but what kitchen exists that doesn't seem hectic with hard working people behind the magic?
The overall buy-in is a little high for what seems like substitute quick fast sea food. But the overall quality and experience makes me want to return and try other menu options. Should I have chosen the Haddock?? Hmmm.

Was in the area for Drs. appt and wife and I have been meaning to visit Oscar's for quite some time. We're born and raised New Englanders, so we haven't had good seafood since moving here 8 years ago. Was greeted by Kari, who has a good sense of humor, and we placed our order. Wife had clam strips and Chowdah, I had the Cod and strips with hush puppies, Wife loved the strips and Chowder was good, I equally enjoyed my selection. Plan on coming back real soon, Thanks Kari!!!

We always enjoy eating here. Friendly staff and great food. Cod and shrimp are my favorite.
Update:
Their food is still fantastic, but now I'm really on to the mahi tacos. Broiled. So good! And I'm still blown away every time I'm there on how they hire. Just the best people. I always feel so welcome there.

I had fish and chips today for the very first time from Pier 83. It was very very good. I will go there over and over!
I was very disappointed with my fish and chips/4 shrimp dinner. I ordered and extra piece of cod...which I didn't get. But at least they remembered to charge me for it!
