Carmen helped me pick out the perfect gift for my girlfriend. She was patient, kind, knowledgeable, insightful and super helpful regarding both the items in store and the region. Thanks very much Carmen! All the best.

Small store next to the desert view watch tower. It has a few memorabilia items on sale, but I thought they were overpriced.

Facilty has very limited selection of snacks and some Starbucks products. Deli is closed for repairs. Service was friendly. It was a nice spot for a cup of coffee and a snack. The tower is closed also, gift shop is open.

Small gift shop and Starbucks coffee you don’t see that in other NPs

The huckleberry ice cream was very delicious, but problems with the espresso machine resulted in a horrible latte.

I've been to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon dozens of times and the Desert View was one of my favorite spots. However, now due to fire safety concerns, all but the ground floor level of the tower is permanently closed. You can go inside the gift shop area of floor one, but no higher. The parking lot was still being improved while I was there. The restrooms are very nice, at least. Even finding a parking space may be difficult on busy days here. It is about a 500-yard walk from most of the parking lot to the tower.

We stopped into the trading post and ordered smoothies and milk shakes. The staff were friendly and service was quick. Refreshing

This place consists mostly of a shop with local crafts and a basic cafeteria with ice cream. That being said, both items can be fun to view on a hot day. Oh, and it has a fantastic porch with rocking chairs overlooking the tower. Get some IC or Coke, pull up a chair and rock away your worries.

I was disappointed that I could go to the top of the tower but the view from here was incredible. This is a sprawling view of the East end of the Grand Canyon and seeing the river. Really nice ice cream at the little store. There were several very nice artifacts in the tower, and this is a very historic Tower.
