Excellent food & service. I had the shrimp fajitas & fry bread for dessert . Our waitress named Diamond was delightful & provided great service.
Recommended dishes: Navajo Fry Bread
There aren't many options in town and this was certainly the best choice. We each ordered an entree - fish and chips and rosemary chicken - and they were good although the portion size on the chicken was small. The service was good. I would rate this 3.5 stars but unable to do so and cannot get to a 4. It is definitely the best option in town other than fast food.

I felt like they sucked me in with the promise of Native American food. Other than fryed Navajo bread, I didn't see or under stand anything on the menu to be Native American. The food I had was good, I just felt like I was in some kind of Americanized version of what the restaurant should have been.
Waitress was good but had way too many tables so refills didn't happen and everything was slow. Had to go to the gift shop to pay and that line took 10 or 15 minutes not because the line was long but because of some weird system of recording all the sales on paper. Very strange flow for a restaurant.

The Reuben Heflin Restaurant is located inside the Hampton Inn in Kayenta, AZ. We used Kayenta as a base to explore Monument Valley. My dad and I both enjoyed the Navajo Tacos—they were some of the best I’ve ever had, and I should know, having grown up in New Mexico surrounded by Indian pueblos. The hotel also uses the same space to serve breakfast in the morning. Prices were reasonable, and the service was very good. Note that no alcohol is served in this restaurant and is generally not sold in the area.

We have dined here at least twice. A few years ago, and now in July 2025. They have the best Navajo Taco, bar none, that I have ever eaten. And I’ve had many self-described Navajo Tacos!
The gift shop next door is excellent, stocked with authentic signed Native American jewelry as well as books, painting, wares. It is a “not to miss” if you like the culture. Super friendly staff in both places.

One of the few restaurants in this city full of fast food. It is located in the Hampton Inn hotel so there is no external indication. Some dishes derived from Navajo cuisine, burgers and pizzas. Low prices given the rather nice setting and unpretentious but decent cuisine.
Note that you can eat there until 10 p.m. without problem.

Tonight was totally spoiled! My wife and I got there at 6:30 for dinner. It was full but waited for 30 minutes, which was alright. We got seated and got our menus with several tables empty around us. Right next to us, a couple came in about 15 minutes after us, their orders were taken, delivered, and almost finished before our waitress took our order. At another table, a couple came in long after us and got their meals before us. The meals were good but spoiled by this service. NO SERVICE, NO TIP. That is the 1st time I have ever not left a tip.

For me, the United States stands for customer friendliness. That was hard to find this evening. The service forgot about us and made us wait pointlessly for so long that we were the only couple allowed to have a bite to eat. And that dinner, despite all the rave reviews, wasn't that good. The Navajo pizza was similar to the Navajo taco, in terms of the base. It was mainly greasy and far from crispy. Others may appreciate its flavors and structure, but both dishes did not meet our approval. What was Navajo about it remained completely unclear to us. The taco seemed Mexican. In short, not recommended, but for the lack of hospitality.

Very difficult to find ANYTHING on this menu without wheat flour… The menu didn’t say, but the waiter was willing to ask the chef… The bean soup, green chili stew, corn-breaded fish and even the fries contain flour! Finally ended up with the small chicken breast with green chili and cheese off the chicken sandwich (hold the bread and fries) and the potato skins. Expensive for what it was (the descriptions are MUCH fancier than the food) but it tasted ok and hopefully won’t make me sick.

I would not order my green chilli stew again. The stew probably came from a can and was decorated with fried bread. Bit of bland.
