my friend and i came in a few weeks ago. not busy at all. we came in 2:30p.m.. tried to have a early dinner, well, a large family with terribly behaved children parents did absolutely nothing. the children 4 in all crawling on floor, loud, very young no one parent or adult from that table cared. then i spoke to the mgr on duty if she could ask the parents to please do something, she was rude!!! i couldn't believe her response, no, she stated i'm not going to yell at them, i didn't ask her yell,...... the food wasn't even good, oh yes, on top of that running the vacuum, well then staff was laughing etc. my friend is 82 and i in my sixtes. even so as customers we sould not extremely unproffessioal.

Let's set the table, 4 adults, 2 children (7 & 2 yrs old), our server is Justice (she's a 5 star server). Order: Chicken Fried Steak with pancakes, Fish & Chips, Big Cheese Burger with fries, French Dip with coleslaw. For the kids, off the child's menu, 2 pancake orders, with the ice cream desert, all ordered with drinks (non-alcoholic). Ticket time 24 minutes. Children first, then 3 of the adult orders are brought to the table. Five minutes later, an apology about the chicken fried steak order, the kitchen is working on the pancakes. Five minutes later, an apology again, this time the kitchen is working on the gravy. The manager then instructs our server to put the pecan pie order for free (slice, not entire pie). When the chicken fried steak finally gets to the table, all the adults are finished eating, the children have finished eating, and we are ready to order pie (my wife's slice free) however, the chicken fried steak order never showed up with the pancakes the kitchen was originally working on. When I brought up the steak didn't come with the pancakes, she looks at our bill and says "yes it did" at that point I point to the table and she's very apologetic realizing the complete order never made it to the table. All that wait, and it was a below average chicken fried steak. So here's the bottom line, all this took place with the manager checking on the table 3 times while our server was at the table. The lack of acknowledgement that a problem existed amazed everyone at the table. Both my son and I have extensive experience in the restaurant industry, and are really understanding that errors happen, what I don't understand is the lack of customer service to ensure it was corrected, or removed from the bill. We did bring the meal home and mixed it in with our dog's dinner. The manager of this Inn is either incompetent, or complicit in the lack of discipline shown in the kitchen. While the pie was excellent, the dinner graded as so-so, again our server *Justice* was top-notch, but I, nor my family, will ever go to this Village Inn again. If they shut the doors on this location tomorrow, the City of Mesa would be a better place to dine.

Great food and value. Servers were all welcoming. Just wasn't sure who was serving me. 4 different ppl came to table. Took a while in between but finally got a box so i could leave.

It was just ok. I had chicken fried steak and it was a little salty and dry. The gravy was just ok. The mashed potatoes were good. The service was excellent. And friendly. Over all it was what I would expect for a great spoon diner. As long as you know what to expect it was good. I would go back when I was in the mood for that kind of restaurant. The price was right.

I have been a part of the village in family for as long as I can remember. I have been eating there as long as I can remember. their food overall has not changedbut they're sure has. I miss the old village inn where things are less modern and it feels more welcoming. I wish they'd kept it to the original design. But now they want to keep up with the times but I think it's time to go back in time to get back what was amazing but the food there is still delicious and I hope that they never change it any recipes ðŸ˜

Came here today July 18 around 915pm got seated pretty quick, empty restaurant. Got drinks by manager now have been waiting over 30 minutes for food still waiting. Been watching people waiting to pay friendly service long long wait

Somewhere your grandparents would like. High salt, high sugar and high carb. The pie is not very good. Very cheap ingredients.

Ive come in to village inn since I was a little girl with my grandmother more times than I can count. I get the simplest order of French toast and pancakes and for some reason this location can still mess it up. Absolutely poor service and pompous servers who like to talk badly about their tables like we can't hear them or understand their backhanded comments.
Been to this location a couple times now and the service is great! Food always comes out in a timely manner, tasting great and as described! Everyone that works here is extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place for breakfast or even lunch or dinner! I recommend trying the strawberry banana supreme toast or the chicken pot pie!

Gave this place one more shot and no more. Walked in and their were people already waiting was told the infamous 15 minute wait all the while empty seats throughout the place. At least seat people, but that would be a problem since the greeter vanished. Walked out along with four other people. Went to the Mellow Mushroom, excellent service and price. True rating would be 0 stars.
