Didn’t like my Pad Thai and Tom Yum at all. I barely couldn't find any veggies in Pad Thai. No bean sprouts, no chives, no egg. Only shrimp and noodles. Tom Yum is not an authentic flavor at all. It was my third visit and it was the worst. I’m never going back.

I have been working in the Oro Valley area lately and have been craving some good Thai food! I landed here at Mali Thai, based on the reviews, I thought I was in for a real treat! The staff were kind, sweet and very attentive... The atmosphere was nice and quiet. With only 3 other tables on a Thursday evening, I didn't expect a long wait.I ordered the Tom Kha level 3 (as I was informed not just by the staff but also the number of signs posted, that a 4 would be too hot) and asked for a side of extra broth, along with the papaya salad to go.Twenty minutes later, my small bag was in hand.No extra broth, no chopsticks, sauce or napkins.. I confronted the missing items with the staff and patiently waited another 10 min. When I got back home, excited to quench my Thai desires, I was very disappointed. The soup states that galagal, lemon grass and kaffir lime are a part of its ingredients. However I could not taste them at all. The broth consisted of slightly water downed coconut milk and was thicker than heavy cream! There wasn't any spice and no added lime to squeeze in it to cut the fattiness of the coconut milk.I was deeply disheartened. Lacking in flavor, authenticity and ingredients, I would hardly call this place "Thai cuisine". If you are in the area and looking for Thai food, I'd recommend driving south a few miles and finding a better location for Thai cuisine there.Or go to "Flavor of India" at the other end of the shopping center.

Our first round of curry was pretty good! I had the panang and my bf had the Massaman. Tasty curry but needs a little depth (maybe some fish sauce). We then got a Green curry to share and it was a little disappointing. But we just took it home to liven it up a bit :) anyhow our server was great! She was very kind and informative. Loved her piercings too! Seems like a nice place but it’s outta the way for us :P

Truly awful "Thai" food. Penang curry literally inedible, we threw it down the sink. Consisted of "beef" gristle, green peppers, and thin flavorless liquid. Pathetic. Som tum (papaya salad) was at least edible. Fresh rolls were absolutely dull, rice paper around Costco salad mix. Pad Thai was similarly uninteresting, noodles weren't right, little flavor. How can a place this bad stay in business? Who would ever return?

Mali Thai is a wonderful locally owned restaurant in Oro Valley. The food is always fresh and delicious.

Ordered the Panang curry with shrimp and pad Thai with beef for takeout. We felt everything was very bland. Panang curry just tasted like the standard red curry paste you can purchase premade in a jar and was soupy. Pad Thai noodles were over cooked and the beef was tough and poor quality, didn't taste good. The taste of the pad Thai sauce was very good. The meals were very expensive for the quality. I like Bai thong much better but it's far away from Oro Valley. I lived in Flagstaff for years and was spoiled with so many great Thai options, so was hoping this place would be better.

The pumpkin curry was very well executed. The flavors of the curry stood out over spice and made the dish well balanced. I highly recommend Mali Thai for good Thai establishment. The calamari was over breaded, and the big pieces were still chewy. The entree made up for it for sure.

Why is Thai food so bad in Tucson! The best ones closed! 4 seasons and the one downtown that's babe is escaping me since she retired... I'm just going to learn to do it myself

I really like this place. Their "Thai hot" is, for me, just right, which is rare when it comes to spice. This level is right at that point where it doesn't cross the line such that all other flavors are obliterated by capsaicin. I commend them on finding that line. The food is well-made, without a lot of gloopy sauces. The produce tastes and looks fresh. I've had all of their curries now and no complaints on any of them.As for pad thai, the old crowd-pleaser, happy with this too.I really want them to stay in business and haven't been let down yet. I've been there, I think, eight times now.
